A group of Palm Springs residents are fighting to remove a towering statue of Marilyn Monroe in one of her most iconic poses, arguing that the work is a sexist eyesore that blocks traffic.
On Feb. 23, the Art Newspaper reported, California’s 4th District Court of Appeals overturned a motion to dismiss a lawsuit by the Committee to Relocate Marilyn (Crema), which is battling to remove Seward Johnson’s 2011 sculpture “Forever Marilyn” from its current site outside the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Well, there is no question that Marilyn Monroe could stop traffic.
It is pretty risqué, being so huge so that anyone sees the underside from a good radius.
It’s just plain cheesy otherwise.
I would sign a petition to remove it. But I wouldn’t riot over it to try to tear it down.
Palm Springs was hijacked by the gay mafia a few decades ago. They must be chagrined and outraged over a statue of an attractive heterosexual woman who had mass appeal to millions of red-blooded, all American heterosexual men.
If the artist of the Marilyn statue had included a bulging penis under the dress then the gay mafia would have considered it high art and a city icon.
The Lenin is not huge. It’s life size. Sure it should be removed.

Went there for dinner with my father-in-law around 20 years ago and it must have been bull dyke night.
I’m not a Monroe fan but idiots who have a problem with that statue really need to pack up and move to North Korea, Cuba or Mexico.
I’ve always found Johnson’s sculptures to be quite hideous.
