Literally named the “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2023,” the measure was filed last month in Congress by U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a New Jersey Democrat. Coleman was endorsed for office last fall by national anti-gun groups including billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown organization.
“The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act is one step in the right direction to slowing the proliferation of guns and ammunition,” said Watson Coleman in a statement.
The proposal would establish the licensing of ammunition dealers who then would be required to confirm the identity of customers seeking to purchase ammo by verifying a valid photo I.D. in person. As such, it would place a prohibition on the current widespread practice of buying ammo online and having it shipped directly to the customer’s door.

Bill sponsored by Academy and Dicks sporting goods so they can jack up prices.
This would do zero to stop crime. Assuming I am a criminal, I’d buy my ammo with cash at some store 100 miles away.
I sure wouldn’t buy from an online retailer who would ship to my home and have my credit card.
Literally the antithesis of useful. This is just to make hunting and gun sports more expensive.
“Stop treasonous politicians Act of 2023,using online ammo sales”
There-—fixed it!
They aren’t stupid.
Take away the ammo, or make it impossibly expensive, and they achieve their desired end.
The only way to buy Tokarev ammo seems to be online.
You wouldn't buy case-quantities of ammunition in the first place.
Seriously.
A few years ago, I read a report on crooks and guns, which contained the following interesting bits:
1) Criminals are frequently arrested with guns that are NOT loaded to capacity. And it isn't because they just fired a few shots while committing a crime.
2) Criminals are frequently arrested with guns containing mismatched cartridges.
3) Criminals rarely practice with their weapons. This may explain their abysmal marksmanship.
4) Criminals are frequently arrested with guns that are in poor condition.
From this it is clear that attempts to limit the purchase of large quantities of ammunition are aimed at citizens, not criminals.
Can you say “infringed”?
As everyone knows a firearm is useless without ammo.
Although I might use a bayonet or the gun used as a club.

THIS from the Congress Critter that has not one, but TWO Felons for sons? ARMED ROBBERY of a toy store!
She’s got balls, that’s for sure! Make sure only the criminals have ammo, not the Store Owners being robbed!
Hoping it goes nowhere. We’ve been lucky to get what we need, locally, though prices are obscene. It’s Flyover Country. Everyone has/needs/uses guns.
Oops! Sorry! I posted before I read that you already made my point.
If anyone has the chance to comment on this proposal use the progs’ own language.
“As a wealthy white well armed man I support this bill 100%. Blacks, Latinx, transgendered should not have easy access to ammo and firearms. There is nothing more threatening to me, as a white male, then an armed BIPOC transgender. ANY rule, law, or regulation that makes it harder for those people to exercise their inalienable right to self defense is better for society.”
The left wants to ban everything except being queer. That they intend to make mandatory.
