Two Minnesota Democratic lawmakers are proposing a pair of bills that would significantly impact the state's backyards and neighborhood ice rinks in an effort to combat climate change.
State Reps. Jerry Newton and Heather Edelson, members of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, introduced legislation on Monday that would block the sale of common landscaping appliances like lawn mowers and chainsaws as well ice resurfacing machines such as Zambonis, requiring that only electric battery versions be sold in the state starting Jan. 1, 2025.
The ban on lawn and garden equipment would include any machine that uses "a spark ignition engine rated at or below 19 kilowatts or 25 gross horsepower." Commonly used landscaping tools like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, lawn edgers, string trimmers and brush cutters would all be prohibited by that definition.
The measure follows a Democrat-backed clean energy bill signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz that requires electricity production be 80% carbon-free by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Republicans labeled it the "blackout bill."
"DFLers are committed to taking action on climate – unchecked climate pollution threatens Minnesota’s future," House Speaker Melissa Hortman said after lawmakers passed the bill, according to Alpha News. "Now is the time to take bold action and ensure Minnesotans have the healthy climate and clean energy future they deserve."

Democratic Farmer-Labor Party? You mean progressive Communists?
And electricity powered by???
NP. They are also outlawing ice storms.
Anything to make the middle class and working poor more miserable.
2 more idiots floating to the surface ,LOL
OK...... here’s reality.
I bought an electric lawnmower. It works better than my old Briggs lawnmower . I learned that there were other yard tools that are electric. I bought them all except for a hedge trimmer.
I have two 56 volt batteries and battery power is always at hand
The relief from the chains and trauma of two cycle engines may have added as many as five or even ten years to my life.
Two cycle gasoline engines are pure evil
DFL == "Dumb F'ing Liberals"
The loggers in the northern part of the state might not care for this legislation. I think they occasionally use chain saws.
What they're doing is just plain nuts...and it started with a lightbulb.
Insanity now rules us.
Liberals/Demonrats are the most foul mouthed, dumb, traitorous, booger-eating, seditious, nature hating, aggressive, immature, insane, intolerant, bigoted, stingiest, anti-Christmas, polluting, off-key flat singing, angry, unfriendly, greedy, fascist, hate-filled, mean-spirited, envious, resentful, vicious, close-minded, violent, murdering, child-abusing, amoral, stupid, censoring, horse-punching, book-burning, ignorant, uneducated, unskilled, childish, prejudiced, racist, women-hating, man-hating, perverted, thieving, destructive, American-hating, Christian-hating, muslim-loving, Jew-hating, Israel-hating, communist, vote-rigging, vulgar, dirty, smelly, election-rejecting, regressive, restrictive, prohibitive, bed-wetting, poo-flinging, cop-killing, war-mongering, law-breaking, conservative black hating, and scared little lying thumb-sucking pussified idiots God has ever created.
“Tim Walz that requires electricity production be 80% carbon-free by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Republicans labeled it the “blackout bill.””
Walz, as wrong as he is, actually has it right. He said “Carbon” instead of “CO2”. Big difference here. The left got caught when it turned out all the high pollution cities are run by Democrats. Carbon is pollution. CO2 isn’t. What Republicans should be doing is hammering those cities for their carbon emissions and that they need to clean them up immediately.
Force those elected leaders to get rid of gas appliances from restaurants and apartment buildings in their districts. Hold the Democrats to their standards. That is what Alinsky would have done.
ANY of these ‘green progressive’ nuts should be thrown the **** out of office at the EARLIEST opportunity. There are AT LEAST 100 of them in the US House.
I have a 13 HP, 32” wide Honda snowblower.
It easily removes snow from the 90’ front driveway and 600’ rear driveway.
NO elfin’ electric snowblower can do this job as quickly and effortlessly as this Honda can.
Happy I lured Mes. BBB333 from Minnesota to Montana!
lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge clippers, chainsaws, lawn edgers, string trimmers and brush cutters would all be prohibited
What about snow blowers?
Heather Edelson is a fan of Bubly , does she know how they make
Just ban humans and get it over with.
Personally, I like battery powered equipment versus gasoline for my typical suburban home.
BUT!!! If I worked for a living using that equipment, I’d have to carry around 10s of thousands of dollars of batteries and equipment, and considering that the batteries are like cash in that business, I’d have to be facing guns quite often.
