The Nord Stream pipelines were destroyed last September by the US in a covert operation, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has claimed. The legendary reporter made the bombshell revelation in an article posted to his newly launched blog on Substack on Wednesday.
The explosives were planted at the pipelines back in June 2022 by US Navy divers under the guise of BALTOPS 22 NATO exercise, Hersh reported, citing a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning.
The journalist noted he had reached the White House and the CIA for comment, with both firmly rejecting the claim as "utterly false."
The bombs were detonated three months later on September 26 with a remote signal sent by a sonar buoy. The buoy was dropped near the Nord Stream pipelines by a Norwegian Navy P8 surveillance plane, according to the report.

I put nothing Past Russia using to defend themselves on any ground they're fighting. ...and it's pretty clear NATO is certainly in this war regardless if saying or not officially. I've listened some NATO members leaders who are not at all in agreement with Bidens Administration forcing European hands to fund and fight this war for Ukraine...so NATO isn't all on board.
Still how this war is escalating is down right scary and INSANE!
They tested Russia when they attacked the Crimea Bridge and Russia responded by taking out the power grid in Ukraine cities. Russia will always respond. Now US/EUNato is ‘talking’ of training and arming aircraft fighter jets to use in Ukraine.....again escalating the war.....Putin will respond before they even get there.
It wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility for the Russians to respond against US infrastructure. They’ll be burning down egg production facilities next.
There have been Ukrainians in the US training on F-16’s for a few months now. I recall seeing a few comments on here from other FReepers mentioning it last year.
The UK is now training Ukrainian pilots, France is likely doing the same, and Poland most definitely is doing this.
I suppose if Putin wants to attack NATO airfields he can do that.
But I doubt that any such attack will work out the way Pooty thinks it will.
After listening to Zelensky’s two press briefings with Sunak it looks and sounds like EU has taken the Nato lead via Britain in arming and leading this war against Russia.....Documents were signed.....training of F-16 piolets generally takes 5 yrs...even cut in half Sunak said theres logistics and maintenance issues......Probably would fly out of Poland and other countries. Also offering long distance land to air missiles. So the build up for World War continues.
Zelensky will also have another meeting with European leaders this week before returning to Ukraine.
