A gay stepfather has claimed the lead pastor of a Christian academy and church told him he could not pick up his daughter from school because gay couples aren't welcome.
Don Williams and Jose Ortega said they were confronted by Heart Cry Christian Academy Pastor Billy VanCamp when they went to collect their 10-year-old daughter's Queen Creek city Baptist school in January.
The child is from William's first marriage.

You describe the scenario pretty well.
Hey if you don’t like it you’re free to send your kid somewhere else.
Would they do the same if the her step father was a convict that just got out of prison? If so then they are consistent. If not they may need to rethink it.
Unfortunately the only one really hurt becomes the daughter. Who is supposed to pick her up after school? Her biological father is obviously a homosexual as well.
As far as I know the school would allow an actual stepfather to pick up the child, but I am not certain.
There seems to be no reason her father couldn't pick her up since he is a parent. Think the school's position is that his partner is not a parent.
Most likely the mother is the one who picks the child up since she has main custody and is tasked with providing the girls education. The only time the sodomites would come to pick up the girl would probably be on the day they get custody for the weekend. I seriously doubt this is an every day or even every week event. They may just have to pick the girl up at the mother’s house from now on.
I 100% support the Baptists in this. I hope that Baptists would 100% support us Catholics in a similar situation.
Anyway, just offering my 2 cents of worthless questions. 🙂
But it was out of concern for the child involved in this situation. None of it is her fault.
That may be the true story here. 🙂
Sounds reasonable to me.
I imagine the pro-homo and LettuceGuacamoleBaconTomatoQueso crowd will get all energized and foamy at the mouth over this.
Another article mentions that the parents have shared custody but the mother has legal control over educational decisions related to their daughter. Evidently, the father was told that he could pick up his daughter, but his second spouse cannot because he is not a blood relative. I believe that if the second spouse was a woman, she would also not be allowed to pick up the daughter if the mother did not okay it.
