Last week, the company announced that beginning Feb. 1, the centralized monopoly will no longer help support local charities, including youth athletic associations. Instead, it will donate to social justice and social responsibility initiatives that work on a larger scale, like affordable housing and other entities that align with its values.

I just bought something via Smile and it went to same animal welfare group I’ve been supporting all along.
I use Amazon Smile to route $$ to my daughter’s private Christian High School. I guess I can see why they “can’t have that” happening! Thanks for the heads up. Sorry for her school.

If I’m not mistaken, Amazon Smile will end on or around Feb. 20, and not on Feb. 1 as the article says.
Anyway, here’s the bottom line. Amazon is just not happy with the charities we peasants chose. We are too stupid to pick charities that have an “impact”.
So come Feb 20 Amazon will direct its charity dollars elsewhere.
National Right to Life for me. Admittedly surprised it lasted this long.
I sent mine to the boy scouts, not sure which charity they’d hate more.
I stopped using Amazon in Jan 2020 when they became overly political.

It is my testimony that Amazon is plagued by employs who are thieves. They obtain customer account information/access and then make purchase on the accounts unprotected from inside thievery.
My Amazon smile charity was the 2nd Amendment foundation.
My pittance went to Camp Hope. Guess sacrificing for your country is not an Amazon virtue. F-off Amazon. Go Woke Go Broke.

They put all of the local businesses into bankruptcy; then they nationalize their SoJo donations.

I sent my to Great Dane rescue. (the original DugwayDuke was a Great Dane).
I’m reminded of the Combined Federal Compaign kerfuffle back in the early 80s. The CFC always made a big deal that your could direct your contributions to the charities of your choice and that your contributions wouldn’t support charities you did not support. Well, guess what? That was a lie.
It turns out CFC was money laundering. They decided before the campaign began what percentages of the money collected would go to which charities. If you chose to donate to charity A, then your contribution was applied to the predetermined amount going to charity A. CFC was challenged on this and their comment was that your money went to the place you designated. Of course, your contribution increased the total CFC donations which meant that your contribution incrased the amount going to charities you disapproved.
