Her fetus had a fatal birth defect. She had to fly out of Florida for an abortion

Anabely Lopes wanted a child more than anything, so the 44-year-old was ecstatic when she became pregnant last year — and then devastated when doctors said her unborn child had a fatal abnormality...

A new law restricting abortion access had gone into effect days earlier, and Lopes soon found herself on a plane, leaving South Florida to get an abortion at a clinic in Washington.

On Tuesday, Lopes will return to Washington, this time accompanying U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address...

She chose to get pregnant after 40 years old. That’s asking for trouble.

That’s assuming any of this story is true. Probably a friend of Debbie WS and the story was concocted to make a point to help the demonic cause.

That’s not what the link says. But I’ll take your word for it.

fatal defect ... and yet needed to be aborted?

States should allow two exceptions to a ban on abortion (after quickening):

1. To save the life of the mother, in which case the life of the unborn baby should be preserved if reasonably possibly

2. To remove an already dead unborn baby from the mother or a fatally-ill unborn baby when the latter poses so much as a moderate risk to the mother’s life or health

In both of these allowed exceptions, the rights of both persons have to be considered.

Having said the above I feel obligated to say that an army buddy of mine was only able to enter this world because of the willing martyrdom of his mother. Hopefully, in the future if not today, both my army buddy and his mother would be able to survive such a problem pregnancy per exception 1.

There’s a channel on youtube called Special Books by Special Kids where a former special ed teacher goes out and interviews people with different conditions, as well as their families. I find it to be pretty educational as well as eye-opening.
Here’s a link to an episode about Trisomy 18 that may or may not be of interest to any of the posters here.

The "patient" or the reporter is lying, just so Wasserman Shultz can make a P.R. stunt.

Surgical abortion in Florida is legal up until the 15th week of pregnancy (15 weeks after your last period),3, 4 except in cases where the abortion is necessary to save a mother's life, prevent serious injury to the mother, or if the baby has a fatal abnormality.

The woman did not have to "flee" Florida. It is/was a stunt.

They had to dig to find this prop for the pro-murder crowd. Who says she would not love the baby anyway?

I’ve read too many times when the docs were wrong and a healthy baby is born.

"Well excuuse me!"

Notice how the brainwashers use fetus rather than baby.

In fairness, the law requires two docs to sign off in that last case, and the woman claims that the two docs they went to would not write the letters signing off on the abortion. I’m entirely open to the possibility that they went doc-shopping to find the two reluctant docs for the purpose of the political stunt, since the baby’s condition is essentially fatal anyway, so the abortion wasn’t really necessary; once the baby dies in-utero I doubt any letter would be needed, and as mentioned before: if the pregnancy was so “wanted”, why was she in such a hurry to end it once it became apparent that the baby had a problem?

edwards-syndrome Edwards’ syndrome (trisomy 18) - NHS

Apr 20, 2022Most babies with this type of Edward’s syndrome who are born alive will live for at least a year, and they may live to adulthood

I have heard stories of babies who survived trisomy 18, so the media and Rats are lying (as usual) in order to push their baby killing agenda.

Sick. I know several couples whose unborn child had a “fatal birth defect” and had the baby anyway and loved the little one for as long as he or she lived, and let the Lord take the child in His good time. None of them regretted the decision and some of those poor babies were a great blessing and inspiration to others.

Bingo! From the Florida Statute 390.0111: (c)The fetus has not achieved viability under s. 390.01112 and two physicians certify in writing that, in reasonable medical judgment, the fetus has a fatal fetal abnormality.

FYI; 390.0112 is the reporting requirement to the State which carries a $200 fine for each non-reporting violation.

IOW, the Democrats, especially the depraved DWS have found their prop to keep the issue of abortion “access” front and center.

Dear Every Journalist: Washington is a state in the northwest United States; Washington D.C. is a completely different location so maybe take the time to add the two extra letters. Sigh.

What’s the problem? Don’t Democrats say they want abortion to be “safe and rare”?
