Kevin McCarthy: National Debt ‘Greatest Threat to Our Future’
Breitbart ^ | 02/06/2023 | Sean Moran

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a speech Monday that the national debt is the “greatest threat” to America’s future and called on President Joe Biden to negotiate with Republicans on the debt ceiling.

McCarthy said during the press conference, addressing the looming debt ceiling deadline:

Americans are getting hammered by higher prices. Today, nearly two-thirds of all Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, struggling to make ends meet.

Meanwhile, China is infiltrating our culture, our farmland, and our skies because they see us as weak.

This is not sustainable.

But of all the dangers we face, the greatest threat to our future is our national debt.

McCarthy said after a meeting with Biden that he remains optimistic that Republicans and Biden can find common ground on the debt limit and spending.

Talk is cheap. They’ll increase the dept ceiling with targeted cuts ten years out. (Actually I have higher hopes this time, but I’m a realist)

The “debt service” that comes with the debt is what is so detrimental. Ironically, if we had lived within our means in decades past, government spending could be at current levels without deficits and no debt because so much of the current budget/spending is to fund the debt service.

I thought “tax cuts” were going to take care of the deficits because they would produce more revenue to cover continued spending (if you believe that then I have some beachfront property in Arizona to sell you, and not in Lake Havasu either).

I disagree, I see the greatest threat to this country the same as it was in 1859, the DEMOCRAT PARTY.

Wrong, but a good example of misdirection. The greatest threat to our future are those who are allowed to drive our national debt off the cliff. The group is easily identified by its continuing efforts.

They didn’t want to have a Biden Resistance movement from the beginning, why?

McCarthy, McConnell, and Pence went to Biden Inauguration Parties, and refused to go to Trump events.

It’s just ironic that Biden’s agenda is to spend Trillions, and when economic Rex flags appear, run out and spend Trillions more. Yet, the have demurred from taking on Joe Biden for years.

Pelosi and Schumer tore into Trump when they got near him.

Not with Joe, it’s a totally different thing.

“Since when Kevin?”

I’ll believe it only if the GOP majority in the House refuses to raise the debt limit.

These constant increases in the national debt are one of, if not the, primary source of inflation.

Treasury debt is included in the largest measure of the U.S. money supply. If it gets purchased by the Fed, and it usually does, the quantity of dollars increases, devaluing the ones that you hold.

Everyone and their Dog knew Biden wasn’t going negotiate in good faith.

McCarthy is the last guy to figure it out?

What has Joe moved on from? And it was all passed. Why would he compromise?

not china. Not fetanyl. not open borders. Spend trillions on Ukraine, and now he says the Debt is our greatest threat. Makes total sense.

There was a chance decades ago for fixing the ship. That is long since passed. The past obligations will destroy the future. Rip gen x, y, z.

We can call it the ten year plan.

It'll be about as effective as the former five year plans of the former Soviet Union.
