“working closely with the FBI”
That’s what the Pentagon is saying oh wow this looks like a *hit show.
Pure Kabuki theater.
A $400k missile to shoot down a balloon?..................
This is going to make a great Southpark episode.
The script is already written.
RE: A $400k missile to shoot down a balloon?..................
Where did you get this figure?
When watching the shoot down it appeared that the rocket hit the payload instead of the balloon. Had it been successfully targeted at and hit the balloon itself the payload might have come down in a more recoverable single piece instead of a gazillion pieces scattered over 7 or 8 miles.
Probably what they wanted to do.
“Had it been successfully targeted at and hit the balloon itself the payload might have come down in a more recoverable single piece instead of a gazillion pieces scattered over 7 or 8 miles”
Falling from that altitude it’s more than likely in a gazillion pieces anyway.
What the heck does the FBI have to do with a military mission? Asking for a skeptical friend.
Let’s be glad that the guys that “recovered” the debris from the TWA 800 shoot down are probably gone by now.
“The U.S. military has started a recovery mission for debris from the Chinese spy balloon that was shot down by a U.S. fighter jet on Feb. 4”
Sounds like our military either operates on banker’s hours, or they wanted to give China first dibs at recovery.
...why am I not surprised?
It’s just so tough to get close enough to use a safety pin.
Why be surprised. We did “shock and awe” in Iraq where we used million dollar weapons to destroy $10,000 bridges and then we paid “contractors” 10 million to rebuild it.
We did all that with ROE that said our military could not dispatch insurgents placing bombs along the roads because they were not pointing rifles at anyone because you know that people randomly take shovels out to the road to repair potholes in the middle of the night. I just did one the other day. /s
We did spend tens of billions of dollars on IED resistant vehicles instead of sniper teams and drones to kill the people planting bombs because the ROE said our guys should have traumatic brain injuries the rest of their lives rather than kill a person repairing a pothole at 1 in the morning where they filled the hole and ran a wire off into the brush as part of the repair.
You could not make this crap up.

Yep, time to call in the FBI to help cover up any evidence of anything that could make Biden look bad.
Thats what they are there for after all, to help democrats stay in power.
I’m so glad Canada approved.
Journalists do.
1. Early on it traveled over wilderness. No impact to people on the ground if it were
shot down.
2. Coordination with Canada when it was showdown off the coast of SC?
