The numbers are horrifying, but drug overdose death statistics can't fully convey the crisis ravaging America, so DailyMail.com has documented the suffering in some of the worst-affected communities.
There were 107,622 deaths from drug overdoses in the US in 2021, an increase of nearly 15 percent from the year prior, and shocking national trends show few signs of the crisis abating.
Just two milligrams of fentanyl - the amount that fits on the top of a pencil tip - is deadly. Despite successful nationwide stings to bust dealers, authorities admit there's no end in sight for the epidemic.
The animal sedative Xylazine - known as 'tranq' - is now exacerbating the crisis. It's often combined with fentanyl and its horrific effects cause visceral 'flesh-eating' abscesses and addicts to zonk out as they lose feeling in their muscles.
These harrowing pictures lay bare the devastation across the country - as 'zombied' fentanyl and tranq users collapse on needle-littered streets stretching from Washington to Massachusetts, Louisiana to Philadelphia.

looks like a bunch of white privilege lying there!

Maybe for the same reason that libtards put poison into the body politic.
Covid?
The overdose problem isn’t with prescription opiods, inspite of the media attempts to blame doctors and ‘big pharma’. The vast majority of people dying of opiod overdoses are addicts buying fentanyl and other narcotics from drug dealers.
It’s a shame that the Gov’t is persecuting doctors who are prescribing opiods to patients in severe pain, and making those patients suffer because addicts are overdosing on illegal drugs, or drugs obtained illegally.
I honestly don’t know how anyone can be stupid and irresponsible enough to do this stuff.
The sad thing is that states are pushing to ease drug laws even more.

“The co-conspirators are China, Mexican cartels, Democrat and RINO politicians”
Absolutely right. I find it truly not believable that we cannot stop this scourge at multiple spots in the supply chain — at the source, interdicting transportation, at receipt, dealers, etc. The only thing that explains it is US politicians and other government people (e.g., DEA, CBP, DHS, etc) are on the take.
Joe Biden’s America.
Joe Biden’s Hellhole.
These are the people who dropped out of the work force. Now unemployable. A pox on our nation.
Praying.
Looks like another convenient opportunity to “fold” one real plague, fentanyl, into another imaginary plague, Covid. It’s all about confusion, gaslighting, putting the cart before the horse, mistaking cause for effect, and in general keeping everyone in disequilibrium. Did you also know that one of the big Pharma cos. was or maybe has completed
a vaccine that combines influenza and Covid. Looks like the perfect “out”, no?
Instead of taking bodies to the morgue, lat them on the steps of the city halls of these cities that allow this to go on.
Stack em up.
Indeed. I still do volunteer work with the homeless through my church. The depths that some of them have slipped into is heartbreaking.
And while a majority of them so free from addiction or mental health issues, there are more than a few who are simply victims of circumstance and it is a mind-numbing and helpless feeling watching them struggle to get on their feet again without succumbing to the lure of drug addiction and alcohol.
One of the biggest travesties of the homeless quagmire is GOVERNMENT and SOCIAL SERVICES. They will deny services (shelter and government housing) to the victims of circumstance in favor of the drug addicts, alcoholics and mentally ill which is absolute insanity. The aforementioned victims genuinely want to work and better their situation while the others are just looking for a handout and free room and board.
We need to disband our current social services model, fire all of the professional case workers and start over from scratch.
so free = suffer
For the sake of argument lets assume we do legalize drugs. You would need to remove all consumer protection laws and make such companies exempt from any damages their product causes. If you didn’t do this no company would want to be involved with the drug business especially something like opiates which have a very narrow therapeutic range. If this doesn’t happen organized crime is just going to get involved and now instead of a drug problem you have a racketeering problem.
You think we lost rights when they started looking for terrorists…wait until the go after the cartels.
I like a good beer and have a thing for old scotch.
But I get your point. My poisons are just as deadly. They just don’t take as long.
