Trump proposes big changes to public education, saying it's been overtaken by 'Radical Left maniacs'

Continuing to craft a second generation of his policies, former President Donald Trump is proposing a dramatic change in the education sphere that would empower parents to elect and fire school principals.

"Our public schools have been taken over by the Radical Left maniacs," Trump said in a video announcement released late Thursday night.

Trump said the first step in his plan to "save American education" and restore power to parents would be to cut federal funding for any school or program pushing Critical Race Theory, gender ideology or other "inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content to children.

Trump, who has already formally launched his 2024 presidential reelection campaign, said he will, if elected, direct the departments of Justice and Education to open Civil Rights investigations into any school district that has engaged in race-based discrimination, including discrimination against Asian-Americans.

"The Marxism being preached in our schools is also totally hostile to Judeo-Christian teachings, and in many ways, it is resembling an established new religion," Trump said in the roughly four-minute video. "For this reason, my administration will aggressively pursue potential violations of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the Constitution. That’s very simple.

Don’t forget Common Core. Every district should choose its own core.

“Public education is unconstitutional by nature. It inherently denies religious freedom.”

How is that?

You mean stollen Desantis Programs
I am pretty sure he meant Trump Programs as DeSantis is just a pale copy, and Mini-Me of President Trump, all things considered.

Problem is, he supports people who have no interest in implementing his agenda, but they love him, because he does help raise money for the GOP, so as long as he brings in the money, they’ll pay him lip service.

I may have needed to qualify my statement with the word “mandatory.” In any case, the population at large is inherently unable to accept and teach every world view (religious or otherwise). That means there must be selections and rejections resulting in a favoritism, which in turn prohibits free exercise for some.

That’s okay President Trump.

Were good. States and localities can manage education.

Public education is not salvageable. Trump is right to try, but we also need to avoid being delusional. The best way to reform them is to defund them. Get rid of property taxes on primary residences, and use sales tax and corporate property tax to fund it. Maybe a modest annual tuition fee for parents who use the system. Leave homeschoolers alone. We don’t want your vouchers. Leave Christian schools alone. We don’t want your vouchers.

I wonder how many FReepers going to attack Donald J. Trump? We need to give the education back to local schools. Here, the school district is about 300 square miles, the school district I grew up in was 18 square miles. I walked to my elementary and middle school, and I took my motorcycle to the high school.

We also need to give transportation back to the states too...

Big changes are needed, like getting the Federal gov’t out of the education business completely. From the very beginning of this nation education was a local matter & often a private business. The Federal Dept. of Education is a violation of the 10th amendment.

Trump wants to use a band-aid when amputation is the better cure.

“At this point I’m not interested in excuses.”

NeverTrumpers seem to claim that the Senate Filibuster didn’t exist, or that Paul Ryan made it his personal agenda to prevent Trump from being successful.
