The system is too broken to fix. Separation of School and State is an idea whose time has come
They are doing a pretty poor job.
Agreed. Trump’s solution won’t work. To defund, all wealth taxes need to be abolished. Reform won’t happen to institutions that can seize their revenues. Cash isn’t produced by residences. Tuition is the best way: money follows the child. Then Christian schools, and homeschools, and all other forms of education are liberated.
He’s prejudiced against maniacs, the racist./s
I don’t know about unconstitutional. UnGodly, yes.
I am trying to figure out how one opposes publicly-funded health care but supports govt schools.
Govt schooling is arguably the #1 reason why the Republic is circling the toilet. It is right up there with the Pulpit being silent on cultural/social issues.
If I had a nickel for every conservative I’ve heard lament how public schooling turned their children into leftists, I’d be a wealthy man.
There are NO excuses left to put one’s children in govt schools. None.
You are mixing apples and oranges. Federal funding/control versus local funding/control’
Local funding of schools is deeply rooted in our history. The first public school was in the 1600’s.
Not at all.
The little red schoolhouse is not ehat I am referring to. I bet there was tuition in 1600. And no property taxes.
I am referring to the Prussian model invented in the early 1800’s. That is the model for our public education.
No real conservative can defend the current system. Look at the product. It cannot be saved.
“I bet there was tuition in 1600.”
You would lose. The FREE Boston Latin School was funded by taxpayers.
Twenty-first century primary and secondary education in Germany and beyond still embodies the legacy of the Prussian education system. This system has been criticized for being locally controlled instead of being controlled by the German government.

“No real conservative can defend the current system. Look at the product. It cannot be saved.”
The result of decades of federal influence.
So why are you opposed to government run Healthcare?
What kind of taxes? A poll tax?
If you don’t know that public schooling is a disaster today, no one can help you.
You can’t fix the educational system with-out changing how teachers are trained. Most are required to read Ayers. The tentacles run deep.
“If you don’t know that public schooling is a disaster today, no one can help you.”
Get out of the gutter.
Actually, I think the quickest way to reform education is break the stranglehold that College of Education has on certifying teachers through the education degree. If you have a degree or equivalent, you should be able to teach at the K12 level after say a year’s apprenticeship.
Another important reform is decertify the state education association as unions. For too many years they have gotten away with when their union behavior is criticized, they claim to be ‘professional associations’. Well, I have never seen the IEEE using the power of the state to strong arm membership dues out of members. It’s either one or the other if it’s a union it needs to go like all government unions. (Note this will take state legislation!) If it’s a ‘professional association’ then let it behave like one.
You seem to be unaware of the history of modern public schooling. There are plenty of books on the subject. I would invite you to educate yourself on the subject. You’re clearly biased. Speaking for myself, my oldest has been through Catholic, Christian, public and homeschooling. I can speak on pros and cons of all of them. There are no pros for public schooling except for access to almost unlimited taxpayer resources.
“You seem to be unaware of the history of modern public schooling. “
LOL! I have corrected many of your mistakes. The only response I get from you are personal.

Address my post. Your post is about religion, nothing about our discussion of the Prussian model.
Really? Using wiki? Lol. The Prussian model was centralized.
Public school defenders are so sensitive.
You still have not explained why one can support govt schools but not govt MDs. Of course, govt school defenders never can explain that. Why do you support money been taken from ppl who do not use the system?
“The Prussian model was centralized.”
But you said our decentralized school system was modeled on it.
Certainly, Germany’s decentralized school system is.
