Booker: GOP Refusal to Pass Gun Laws ‘Dereliction of Duty’
Breitbart ^ | 01-24-2023 | Pam Key

Posted on 01/24/2023 10:56:24 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he believed Republicans’ refusal to pass “common sense gun safety” was a “dereliction of duty.”

Booker said, “There are common sense gun safety things that we can do in this country that majority of Americans agree on, like universal background checks, gun safety locks. There are things we agree on. The problem in America is that we have a major political party that is not willing to do the common sense things that would make us safer.

The government should create ‘common sense’ border security
-no entry except through entry points
-no criminals just released from prison
-mandatory charge-back to countries for illegal alien expenses
-no one with a criminal background
-anyone crossing a border fence can be shot on-sight

The government should create ‘common sense’ welfare reform
-no able bodied workers on welfare
-no lifetime welfare
-no increase in welfare for having more kids while on welfare
-fathers of kids on welfare pay child support directly to welfare

The government should create ‘common sense’ fiscal policy
-no spending money we don’t have
-no automatic yearly increases
-one penny (1%) across the board spending cuts each year until balanced budget
-no government money competing with private sector business
-mandatory minimum 20 years in jail for ANY government fraud

The Government should implement common-sense election laws
-no illegals can vote
-mandatory voter ID
-mandatory 20 years MINIMUM jail time for vote fraud

I could get behind some ‘common sense’ laws

Wordsmithing is a sign of stupid people. Just consider the “Inflation Reduction Act”.

There are some people who should not have access to guns. Thy will shoot you just for disagreeing with them about something...politics, religion, they don’t like the way you mow your lawn, etc. Nothing worth shooting someone over but they would do it. Those are the people that you never know what will set them off or when or why.

I’ll bet a lot of people here know someone like that.

How do we propose to deal with them??? All the laws in the world won’t help.

They don’t enforce the gun laws they have. The Soros DAs routinely drop gun charges.

The only gun law they need to pass is a law repealing their existing unconstitutional gun laws.

Even if people like that couldn’t access guns (they can in an easier fashion when the rights of normal people to keep and bear arms is unconstitutionally infringed), they’d find some other weapon to use. I don’t personally know anyone like that, but the right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed in any case.

Shutdown the border and lockup the criminals on the street. That's the source of "gun violence". We don't need more laws infringing the the right to keep and bear arms.

All the laws in the world won’t help.

Therfore trying to deal with them by passing laws is an exercise in futility.

But that's not what gun control is about. Never was.

Gun control is about disarming YOU.

I believe it was a dereliction of duty for Republicans not to passing sweeping restoration of 2nd amendment rights laws when they had the House and Senate and White House. They should have dramatically rolled back the GCA of 1986 and 1968 and the NFA of 1934. They should have passed a 2nd amendment restoration act to dramatically roll back the Brady Law, the GCA of 1986, the GCA of 1968, the NFA of 1934 and passed nationwide reciprocity.

The U.S. Constitution cannot be changed with the passage of a law, you must seeks to amend the Constitution itself where the existing Amendments are concerned.

The founding fathers recognized that right to bear arms, among the other inalienable were rights bestowed upon man by God. Those rights existed prior to governments. Amending the constitution cannot cancel the 2A.

More likely due to Democrats’ partiality to criminals and their support of youths running wild.

While I would never advocate it, I can assure you, there are many politicians and judges who would not agree with your sentiment, and if amended, would cast it off as though it never existed.

They would argue THAT is the ONLY way the 2nd Amendment, or any other could be altered.
