Yep, feeling it in Kalifornia. $151 Dec. bill, $65 same time last year. We cut back on the Christmas gas log fires knowing what was coming and can afford it. Many, many can’t. So no doubt solvent taxpayers will pick up the slack for those that can’t. The Kalifornia way.

It goes without saying that Californians that voted for Liberals (i.e. Democrats or RINO’s) DESERVE all this!

Those that live there and didn’t vote RED need to work harder against the DIMS or get the hell out.

I really wanted natural gas when I bought this house, even ripping out the propane so that I could run the natural gas lines myself.

When I learned about the monthly minimum fee it made it not worth it since my electric bills are so low.

If I had a higher income I would pay for having gas because of the back-up factor, and am still curious about getting a small propane tank for the house (120-gallon tank) as an even better back-up.

We moved out of San Jose to Arkansas 2 1/2 years ago. When I read articles like this, just confirms we made the right choice.

I love living in Arkansas!

California sits on plenty of oil and natural gas. There is zero need for this to happen. The same is true for New York, but they don’t give a frack about the people.

Anybody got the phone number for ACME Industries?

I’m about in the market for their “Little Giant Home Nuclear Electricity Generator Kit.” I’m thinking I might be able to extract waste heat from the turbine exhaust stream to heat the house.

Does the Jones act have much to do with it? "For nearly 100 years, a federal law known as the Jones Act has restricted water transportation of cargo between U.S. ports to ships that are U.S.-owned, U.S.-crewed, U.S.-registered, and U.S.-built. Justified on national security grounds as a means to bolster the U.S. maritime industry, the unsurprising result of this law has been to impose significant costs on the U.S. economy while providing few of the promised benefits." - https://www.cato.org/publications/policy-analysis/jones-act-burden-america-can-no-longer-bear#introduction

"“In the past 20 years, our in-state production was cut in half … We rely on other states around us to supply the difference of what we need,” Umbro said."

Non-popularly elected (correction welcome) bureaucrats running California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, and SoCalGas are probably helping to push junk science global warming agenda as a remedy for government-manufactured crisis imo.

in fact, California energy bureaucrats are not mentioned in California constitution legislative definition.

"Article IV, California Constitution

Section 1

The legislative power of this State is vested in the California Legislature which consists of the Senate and Assembly, the people reserving to themselves the powers of initiative and referendum."

Just part of the biden/obama/deepstate destruction of the US. States will have to take a stand and tell the fed government to stuff it.

“What’s Behind California’s Skyrocketing Natural Gas Bills”

Once upon a time, Democrats were elected/installed to office.

The End.

“To worsen matters, national supplies began flowing to Europe during the Ukraine conflict”

We can thank the Neocons for taking out the gas pipeline from Russia to Europe - so now we’re trying to replace that gas with LNG.

But since it is Californians (and people in New England too) paying a price for putting the Neocons back in power, I do finally see some good in our Ukraine policy.
