Thank you Al Gore
Thank you communist progressives.
Yep, feeling it in Kalifornia. $151 Dec. bill, $65 same time last year. We cut back on the Christmas gas log fires knowing what was coming and can afford it. Many, many can’t. So no doubt solvent taxpayers will pick up the slack for those that can’t. The Kalifornia way.

It goes without saying that Californians that voted for Liberals (i.e. Democrats or RINO’s) DESERVE all this!
Those that live there and didn’t vote RED need to work harder against the DIMS or get the hell out.
I really wanted natural gas when I bought this house, even ripping out the propane so that I could run the natural gas lines myself.
When I learned about the monthly minimum fee it made it not worth it since my electric bills are so low.
If I had a higher income I would pay for having gas because of the back-up factor, and am still curious about getting a small propane tank for the house (120-gallon tank) as an even better back-up.
We moved out of San Jose to Arkansas 2 1/2 years ago. When I read articles like this, just confirms we made the right choice.
I love living in Arkansas!
Newsom doesn’t give a crap.
What’s behind it here?
California sits on plenty of oil and natural gas. There is zero need for this to happen. The same is true for New York, but they don’t give a frack about the people.
Critics have denounced Xcel Energy for continuing to seek higher rates while the company’s profits keep climbing. Federal records show that Xcel Energy made $660 million in profits in Colorado in 2021, up from $588 million in 2020 and $578 million in 2019.
Xcel Energy is headquartered in Minneapolis and operates in eight states.
Ratepayers report bills double or more from the same time a year ago.. Xcel Energy-Colorado will ask for another natural gas increase in 2023..

With the appointment of former state legislator Tom Plant (D-Boulder) to Colorado’s Public Utilities Commission .. Jared Polis continues the tradition of ideological vanity appointments as the PUC continues its progression toward rubber stamping Colorado’s forced conversion to 100 percent unreliable energy sources and higher energy bills.
Colorado’s PUC is no longer a serious agency, but it maintains serious authority determining just and reasonable rates. ... ~ Amy Oliver Cooke
The Marcellus Shale that made Pennsylvania the nation’s second largest natural gas producer (only Texas produced more in 2020) also underlies upstate New York and several other states.. could supply U.S. consumers’ energy needs for hundreds of years..
They refuse to drill and use it.

Anybody got the phone number for ACME Industries?
I’m about in the market for their “Little Giant Home Nuclear Electricity Generator Kit.” I’m thinking I might be able to extract waste heat from the turbine exhaust stream to heat the house.
Non-popularly elected (correction welcome) bureaucrats running California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, and SoCalGas are probably helping to push junk science global warming agenda as a remedy for government-manufactured crisis imo.
in fact, California energy bureaucrats are not mentioned in California constitution legislative definition.
"Article IV, California ConstitutionSection 1
The legislative power of this State is vested in the California Legislature which consists of the Senate and Assembly, the people reserving to themselves the powers of initiative and referendum."

.
It’s not just California. I have a $184 gas bill for the past month in Florida, and I do try to conserve. I was running the heat full blast during that Christmastime cold snap to protect my pipes in the crawl space by keeping the temperature above freezing down there, but other than that, I keep a close eye on it.
Does Xcel control rates on the western slope?
