The film’s armorer will face the same charge. A cinematographer was killed when a gun Baldwin was rehearsing with went off. There was not supposed to be live ammunition on the set.

No one has ruled out the possibility Baldwin fired multiple shots, and other stories plainly state he made a surprise draw-fire!

During the fatal rehearsal, “I guess I’m gonna take this out, pull it, and go, ‘Bang!’”, pointing the revolver directly at Hutchins.

Working film actors have to be, must be, insurable. And that is the one thing Shooter will never be again…if you don't carry both insurance on your leads, and an umbrella for the film as a whole, you're making TikTok videos. From prison.

There was nothing in the script that says the gun was supposed to be fired. If that's true...then him firing the gun was NOT accidental.

Saying he knows little about guns..His father taught riflery...

As to the gun that killed...he picked it out personally.

Production companies have insurance, and Baldwin’s personal assets differ from the company’s assets. That’s my understanding, but I’m not a lawyer. Anybody here know?

Yes, the assets of Baldwin and the production company are separate. Both Baldwin and his production company have been sued. Each will have insurance coverage and each will be responsible for any judgments against them to the extent they exceed insurance coverage. He has already settled with the decedent's family.

Hey Alec! Here at Free Republic, we all understand this simple and finite rule: NEVER touch a firearm that you haven’t personally cleared yourself. If you don’t know how, don’t touch the damn thing.

I’m sure Alec knows more about guns than he’s saying.

Given his inability to accept responsibility for his actions, that seem reasonable. If the man had some remorse it would be easier on him, but he insist that he did nothing wrong when he pointed a loaded gun at two non actors and fired in their general direction.

Even if he didn’t realize it was loaded, why was he pulling the trigger of a pistol while it was pointed at his directors?

Involuntary manslaughter is defined as an unintentional killing that results either from recklessness or criminal negligence or from the commission of a low-level criminal act such as a misdemeanor.

Involuntary manslaughter is distinguished from other forms of homicide because it does not require deliberation or premeditation, or even intent.

Since these mental states are not required, involuntary manslaughter is the lowest category of homicide.

I don’t see a real problem with that, guns are meant to shoot.

But the armorer has one job. Gun safety. He didn’t do his job and someone died. That is criminally negligent.

True conservatives will refrain from projecting Alec Baldwin guilty simply because we rightly find his politics repugnant.

Speak only for yourself.

I see "tit-for-tat" as a perfectly appropriate response to Leftists.

"True Conservatives" consistently lose because they pretend that if they follow "the rules", the Leftists will follow the same "rules". The Leftists never follow "the rules" if they are inconvenient. It is a mistake to give Leftists the benefit of the doubt and rationalize this as "due process".

Besides, even without my personal bias against Alec Baldwin, it is perfectly clear that he willfully violated long-established industry standard safety procedures for handling firearms on a set. The charge of "Involuntary Manslaughter" is a reasonble, minumum effort by the DA.

Yes, I would be very pleased if Alec Baldwin is convicted.

I don’t think that can happen. There are all kinds of insurance polices taken out on a movie for different things. I can tell you right now he did not self-insure.
