87% of EV batteries sold in the US are made in the US.

Lithium is everywhere. The oceans are full of it. We can now evaporate it from seawater and it is virtually endless. Lithium is easier mined than oil and is much cleaner. There are virtually zero “rare earths” (which aren’t rare) in EV batteries and most of them are totally recyclable.

None of this has anything to do with Algore or Brandon. The firms made this progress all on their own.

If the process isn’t as cheap as refining Oil it will not fly. At this point the amount of not only rare earth minerals but the amount of copper needed to go EV to expand the Grid is so large that there is no production that can meet it.

Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, D-Chesterfield, in an email on Monday. “The Governor’s decision to pull Virginia out of the competition for the new Ford facility puts the Commonwealth at a severe disadvantage.”
Wiki: Hashmi was an educator and academic administrator for 25 years.[1] She received awards and medals for diversity, inclusion, and multicultural enrichment as an administrator[5] at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College where she served as the founding director of the center for excellence in teaching and learning.[1] In the 2019 Virginia Senate election, Hashmi won Virginia’s 10th Senate district, defeating incumbent Republican Glen Sturtevant. She is the first Muslim elected to the Senate of Virginia.[6] She was officially sworn into office on January 8, 2020.
Not sure how “disadvantaged” Virginia will be with literally millions sucking at the government teat.

What super secret US facilities are near Berry Hill? China is always trying to get property near important US infrastructure.

Ford’s shortsighted “transitions to EVs” will be temporary. It is impossible for electric vehicles to replace more than 5% of motor vehicles in America. Solar, wind, geothermal and electric cars are small projects that cannot work with large quantities. Proof: a college parking lot full of solar panels can warm the water in a few restrooms.

Sounds like he’s not stopping the plant, but is not willing to give financial incentives for them to locate there - in other words, raise taxes on Virginians so that Ford and Chinese execs can have bigger bonuses.

Many cringed when Trump went after Younkin for having a name that sounds like he’s Chinese... https://www.theblaze.com/news/trump-youngkin-attack-republicans-election

Might have paid off.

And this would be a chance to “closely observe” a process that was invented (YES THEY DID) by the Chinese.

There is no demand for EVs. They are being forced down our throats.

“Good on Youngkin, whatever his actual motivation.”

Right. A few months ago Trump subtly implied that Youngkin might be in bed with China. He spelled out or said his name with a Chinese flair.

I guess Youngkin might be OK in that regard.

When I cruised thru Silver Peak, NV in ‘63, on a 50cc Honda bike, there was NO ONE living there and the old swimming pool was full of tumbleweeds.

And ruin our attempts to educate a responsible, moral citzenry?

This ship has sailed.

What kind of a people are we;

that we allow men dressed in womens clothes

to pervert the minds of little children?
