KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A helicopter crash in a Kyiv suburb Wednesday killed 18 people, including Ukraine’s interior minister and three children, Ukrainian authorities said.
There was no immediate word on whether the crash was an accident or a result of the war with Russia. No fighting has been reported recently in the Kyiv area.
Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yurii Lubkovych were among those killed...

>The best way to obtain peace, is for invaders to stop invading sovereign nations.
>Russia can bring back its troop swiftly from Ukraine by a simple decision.
Sure it can, but then AZOV and other neo nazis would start shelling Russia and target Russian speakers in Ukraine again. Zelensky told them to stop doing that in 2019 and they told Zelensky if he tried to stop them, they’d kill him. And this stems from all the money we’ve been giving those neo nazis, so we’re mostly to blame.
It felt like a rickety roller coaster ride or a egg eater turned sideways, chugging, chattering, rotors making a LOUD slapping sound. A look shows the ship and the ocean zooming in closer! We straighten up and come in for a landing. Glad to get off of that contraption, lol.
Had another flight that was fantastic. We went from NAS Alameda to Bridgeport, CA.. The Marines have a mountain warfare center there. The helos were CH-53As , which actually needed a part replaced before we could leave. A pilot flew the part up from Alameda in his personal airplane and dropped the part out the widow while flying over. They got the part and installed it and we flew back Sunday afternoon . A helo ride from the Bay Area to the Sierra Nevadas was a awesome sight. We were lower and slower than jets, and were able to take in the view. That was nice.
Probably the most idiotic comment I’ve read regarding this conflict
Where was the bird made?
I wouldn’t be opposed to the deep state knocking down some of their others!! Just remember to not fly in choppers or fixed wings and you’ll be safer.
You got it backwards I think.
Putin’s fascists: the Russian state’s long history of cultivating homegrown neo-Nazis
Too bad Zelensky wasn’t on board.
>Putin’s fascists: the Russian state’s long history of cultivating homegrown neo-Nazis
The problem is, we don’t those neo-nazis large sums of money for nearly a decade. We pay the Ukrainian neo-nazis.
And the rest of his “government”.
There are some neo-nazis in every country in the world.
However, there are zero nazis represented politically in the Ukrainian Parliament.
That’s all what matters, it means the Nazis don’t have the power to rule anyway.
There are many official nazi groups here in the USA. Does that mean Russia must invade the USA as well - just because we have nazis here in our own country?
Does Russia need to denazify America?
actually the blades on a helicopter will rotate so that is you crash land you can control it pretty well.
bttt
We have a winner
How about something good from this? Okay, one less helicopter and 18 less people, plus they don’t need the support crews, equipment, and supplies. So let’s reduce the money we are wasting on Ukraine by that amount (and maybe more or all).
You make a good point.
So, what about the (ever) expanding NATO encirclement? Has anyone thought to offer Putin (that evil dog who is about as corrupt as $&%#@) a roll-back to say 2014 levels?
I don’t know what he would agree to, but he pretty clearly laid out his case/complaints BEFORE the invasion.
Right, let’s just cut right to the chase. I don’t know why everyone else is worried about what kind of chopper it was, or the cause of the crash. Who cares? The only thing that matters is Zelensky is still alive, and as long as that’s the case, billions and trillions of US money will go to Ukraine.
On any helicopter I've crewed the blade assembly attaches to the rotor head. In the real world I'm probably splitting hairs but the head is one piece separate and apart from the blade assembly.
Nato didn’t expand or crossed “red-lines” the way some try make us believe.
The ex-invaded Eastern European countries, including Ukraine, have been under Russian occupation for decades... they lived through hell under forced Russian/Soviet rule.
When the Soviet/Russian system momentarily collapsed, those previously occupied nations suddenly regained their freedom. But at that point they had no army to protect themselves in case Russia decided to occupy them AGAIN...
That’s why all previously occupied European eastern countries by Russia ran to NATO for urgent protection.
Without NATO, those eastern countries would already have been taken back by Russia. Proof : Ukraine wasn’t part of NATO - thus it was invaded by Russia!
The problem with the Soviet-Union or Russia is that they have always had a policy to colonize and expand into any country close to their borders. It continues today.
NATO is just trying to hinder further traditional Russian expansion. It’s the whole point of NATO. It’s a defensive organization.
Also :
What is often forgotten is that it is the CSTO that is helping Russias expansion policies. CSTO = Collective Security Treaty Organization. That is Russia’s own NATO equivalent. CSTO operates as an offensive organization.
So yes, it’s not only Russia attacking Ukraine right now, but the ENTIRE CSTO organization that is helping making this possible.

Reminds me of when the Polish president and many top officials died in a plane accident in Russia.

WARSAW, Poland —
A Polish government special commission has reinforced its earlier allegations that the 2010 plane crash that killed President Lech Kaczynski and 95 others in Russia was the result of Moscow’s assassination plan.
The latest of the commission’s reports, released Monday, alleges that an intentional detonation of planted explosives caused the April 10, 2010, crash of the Soviet-made Tu-154M plane that killed Kaczynski, the first lady and 94 other government and armed forces figures as well as many prominent Poles.
Their deaths were the result of an “act of unlawful interference by the Russian side,” the commission’s head, Antoni Macierewicz, told a news conference.
“The main and indisputable proof of the interference was an explosion in the left wing ... followed by an explosion in the plane’s center,” said Macierewicz, who from 2015 to 2018 served as defense minister in Poland’s right-wing government.
He denied that any mistakes were made by the Polish pilots or crew members, despite bad weather at the time of the crash.
The report repeats many previous allegations made by the commission, appointed by the government whose key figure is the main ruling Law and Justice party leader, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the twin of the late president.
