actually the blades on a helicopter will rotate so that is you crash land you can control it pretty well.

I took a lesson to learn how to fly a helicopter. Heh, you paid some sum of money, you did a ground school, then they took you up in a tiny helo and let you fly it. It was fun.

Not really learning how to fly in one lesson, but it was fun. They let you try to hover, and...I couldn’t do it. I am certain the trainer had his hands ready in an instant to retake control with a doofus like me at the helm.

But there was one thing he showed us that the “students” did not get to try:

Autorotation.

Now, I thought autorotation, if you had an engine failure, you could just kind of spin slowly to the ground and do a hard but controlled landing.

LOL. It was NOTHING like that.

I didn’t think it would be that steep coming in.
