Banning gas stoves gets Americans’ blood boiling
The Hill ^ | 01/12/2023 | LIZ PEEK, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR

Sometimes it’s the little things – the one indignity too many – that cause people to revolt. Banning new gas stoves, as a commissioner on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has suggested, could be the diktat that finally brings Americans to rebel against the government’s incessant, autocratic and ultimately insulting intrusion into our daily lives.

The European Union found that out the hard way. Just weeks before the British went to the polls to vote on whether they wanted to remain in the EU, reports leaked that the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels planned to ban electric teakettles that were a staple of British kitchens, because they used too much electricity.

For Americans that might not sound like a big deal, but for the average Brit, already incensed that some 80 percent of new regulations were flowing from Brussels and not Parliament, it was the last straw. The proposed limits on small appliances would have meant that the time required to boil water would have increased from an average two minutes and 30 seconds to five minutes. For a country consuming 62 billion cups of tea each year, that was an affront.

Polling shifted in favor of Brexit, and indeed Great Britain shocked the world in June 2016 by voting to leave the EU.

WHEN Covid shut down Los Angeles:

You could go 60 all day on all the freeways——

AND THE SMOG was the worst since the 60’s.

You can not pressure can on an induction stove top.

You can pressure can in very small amounts (7 quarts maximum) on an electric coil stove top.

You can not pressure can on a glass stove top.

You can pressure can up to 19 quarts on a gas stove.

Now, why would they want to get rid of gas stoves and replace them with electric?

You get three guesses.

Declaring war on housewives is never a good idea. Remember, 50% of the population will convert to republican is you cut off their cheap and reliable heat.

Did the nation elect the POTATUS?

Unless elections are secured, we aren’t voting ourselves out of this one.

Mr Tipton breaks down under intense questioning. We all know he uses a gas stove to make his “magic grits”.

I grew up in the 50’s with coal, then we switched to oil. Gas was for rich people. In North Carolina the gas company will run a gas line anywhere in your house to replace an electric appliance for free. Those new 1 liter flush toilets keep Roto-Rooter busy. My neighbor has been busy for a year trying to restore his finished basement.

Jeff - That is virtually the same model (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NVF7D5M) of Propane Torch that I use for searing sous vide steaks. It is awesome!

There’s a speaker in that stove someplace...That’s what has to be disconnected. Do you know any appliance guys?? This is a job for “a woman”.

Your research abilities are excellent.

One thing I do like about the audible thing is that if a paper or something is on the cooktop it does let me know.

Talk to someone who fixes appliances. I’m sure there are solutions. Everything is wired and programmed.

Some stoves’ ovens don’t run unless there’s electricity to start the gas burner; there’s no way to start it with a lighter.

Been there, done that.

The top burners, however, -can- be lit with a lighter.

Yep. Not only does sous vide cooking turn out the best steaks, it gave me an excuse to buy a blow torch!

I sear my steaks AFTER cooking. I pat them dry, give them a light brushing of wagyu tallow, and BLAST them with my awesome blow torch.

I took the phone apart and cut the dinger off with wire cutters

All you had to do was disconnect the bell wire at the receptacle.

Yup. That was precisely my situation as well. No oven...burners OK. Burners were enough.
