Why the late George H.W. Bush is the most underrated great US president

3 “For the 28 years that he served as chancellor of Germany, Bismarck preserved what he had built by a restrained and wise diplomacy, which was the single most important element in maintaining the peace of Europe.” – Henry Kissinger Some people complain I never have a good word to say about the United States. That’s not quite true. I am sure if I dig deep enough, I can find a piece or two from a daily column that spans more than a decade where I said something nice. But today, I will change tracks: George H.W. Bush, the 41st US president. The more I read about him, the more it seems to me he has been the most underrated president of the last century. Sadly, that tends to be the fate of one-term presidents.

"GHWB did plenty enough that he can be bad-mouthed about without us tagging him with things he didn’t do."

If he had been CIA Director then, he would have still had Kennedy killed. I'll always be sorry I voted for him and his asshole son for the rest of my life.

There was a time when I respected GHW Bush.

He lost me over the years, his stupid ass comments regarding
Clinton, the One World Odor, and other things.

I also think he started the unravel after Reagan. He didn’t
agree with Reagan as much as I had hoped.

I was a big fan of Nixon. He got a really raw deal. His second term was pulled right out from under him, as unjustly as Trump’s was.

However, he picked himself up, brushed himself off, and started over again. (words from an old song.)

He did not spend the rest of his life seeking revenge. Instead, he wrote, he lectured, he enjoyed his daughters and grandchildren, he lived well and prospered spiritually and emotionally.

“What doth it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his immortal soul?”

The first time I ever heard the words “New World Order” was from the lips of George HW Bush. At the time I thought WTH is he talking about?

And became pals with Bill Clinton.

Have to remember he was CIA chief but couldn’t remember where he was the day Kennedy was shot! And yet there are pictures of him standing in front of the Texas School Book Depository. The more we learn about the Bushes, my respect meter is minus territory. That is for GW Bush as well.

“I’ll always be sorry I voted for him and his asshole son for the rest of my life.”

When are I think of those four elections I remember what a wise man once said about elections; sometimes you’re going to be faced with two piles of crap and be tempted not to vote. But stop and think, whats going to happen if the vote you didn’t make is the vote that would have kept the biggest and smelliest pile of crap out of office.
Whenever I think about the Bush votes I remember that wise man.
No doubt we would have been better off with another four years of Papa Bush and keeping the grifters in Arkansas.
We would probably have been better off with Songbird McStain but too many stayed home and we ended up with the Kenyan.
Romney and his Magic Underwear could have cut the usurpation shot but again, some stayed home.
D’ya see a common theme here?

The common theme is that people will continue to compromise their values, hold their nose, and vote for shit Republicans just to keep the seat Republican. That’s how we ended up with shit Republicans in the Senate, and why the House can never get a large Republican majority...that and voter unlimited fraud go hand in hand. The GOP is dead. It just hasn’t realized it yet, or they do know, because they are complicit in its demise.

My neighbor said he still has nightmares about it . Said he was in trouble for being a bad boy so the court gave him a choice, jail or army and he said next thing he knows is hes in Iraq being ordered to shoot unarmed crying men (by the hundreds) begging to surrender along the road

But You know what !

I need to stop bringing this up because it is disrespectful to those who served in combat and they deserve better

Magic bullet Arlen Specter, for all his foul deeds in public life, deserves an honorable mention for giving us Justice Thomas as well.

Did he use Mr Peabody’s Way Back Machine to transport Sherman back 13 years to the Grassy Mall Tom help Lee Harvey Oswald take out JFK. Scratch that, Mr Peabody and Fractured Fables were already history by 1976
