The Mambo, a ballroom dance from Cuba, crossed the Florida Strait around 1950 and took the US by storm. Even a guy in a red suit with a white beard was doing it.

They do have their pads to sleep on but it would still be nice if they could be in a warmer area. At least that heater is on for them to benefit from if they choose. In this kind of weather, every little bit helps, especially if the wind’s blowing like it is here. It’s ugly outside.

I was VERY glad he was home and figured out a way to get the car out of the garage. He’s off until after New Years and that’s a comfort. He’s right here where my other two “guardian angels” live a few miles away. The rain has already turned to ice on surfaces and they won’t be able to get here. The snow’s already moved out and we got next to nothing. Just a glaze of ice.

Am in Western Pa just past midnight...but just saw the weather channel showing Kettering Ohio and the snow is storming there already...we’re next!

Texas has 90,000 without power because of winds. States of emergency in severla southern states because wind gusts are falling trees - they’re calling the gust tropical wind strength.

Indeed the wind has been blowing hard all day. That has added “wind chill” to the low temps. I hope it’s slowing down now or soon.

Well, no snow definitely means slick roads, so I’m glad you have all your errands done so you can stay in. How long is this stuff supposed to last there? Only one more day of really low temps here.

Yep...the weather channel said these gusts can be tropical storm type winds.....Already taken down trees in Tenesse so they’re having power outages too.

I’m hunkering down here in Western Pa....but so far we’ve just had rain here. Tomorrow or thru the night that’s going to change I expect. Though not sure what snow we’ll get but winds definately and below zero temps coming.

We had wind here all day but it was from the south and not too bad. Now it’s roaring out of the NW and it’s ugly. Our low I the morning will be around 2 degrees with the wind chill around -20. Our high will be around 14 and the wind chill will still be zero or below. WAY too cold.

We have this bitter cold through the weekend. We’ll break the freezing mark, barely, on Monday. Then a gradual warm up through the week. The high New Year’s Eve is supposed to be low 60s!

Be glad you have only one more day of arctic cold. I wish we did!

People don’t think but a major accident on the road can bog down traffic for hours....so if they don’t have enough gas they’ll be sitting in these temps...freezing!

Yep...we’re going to get those low temps tomorrow. Actually going to zero so with wind chill they’re saying 27 below! Yikes!

A very pleasant good Friday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Beach for this morning's thread.

How's everyone doing this morning?

I hope you don’t have a long period with this storm. We have three days of it and that’s three days too long.

I’ve heard that it’s going to be pretty radical there so I hope you are ready to stay inside and stay warm! Of course, you guys are way more used to getting out in cold weather than we sissies in the south are. LOL!

Brrr! It sounds bitter to me. Do you know we’re only a very few degrees “warmer” than it is in Anchorage? EEK!

I’m pretty sure that Li’l Bit and Coal were cuddled up together in her cave on the front porch. I was relieved to see them come out together when I went out to warm up and thaw their water.

When I poured some warm water for Grey and the others in the back, she wanted to drink the warm water as I poured it. Don’t blame her one bit!

I reckon Kathy decided it was time to share with the rest of us some of the “fun” she’s had the past couple of weeks. LOL

I am soooooo glad to hear Coal is hanging out with Li’l Bit. Shared warmth on that pad will keep them both comfy.

When we let some of our cats stay outside in the past and their water would freeze, some would show up when I put fresh, warm water in it. They like to warm up from the inside like we do. :-)

Saw a nice green aurora wave over Anchorage a few minutes ago, at 21:44:10 AK time on the Lake Hood cam. Too bad it’s over the opposite side of the city from Kathy’s house and she can’t step out to see it. :-(

Dang!! How are you staying warmer than we are? Our high later today will only be around 14 after a morning low of 2. 21 Christmas Eve and 26 Christmas Day. We’ll barely break the freezing mark Monday.

Poor Gizmo. He doesn’t look very happy about the cold. Can’t be fun for him when it’s time to go out to take care of “business”.

Good evening/morning, TigerHawk...it is too cool to have a favorite that you want to watch each year.

Unfortunately I’ve never had a favorite...I just sort of watch them as they come. Sad, I know.
