Ukraine Can Win the War. But the Cost May Be Too High for the West.
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Dec. 11, 2022 | Daniel Michaels

Ukrainian leaders have vowed to retake all territory occupied by Russia, prompting a debate over what would be necessary for Ukraine to win and evict Moscow’s forces.

The answer is primarily military because Russia is only going to abandon its hard-won gains if its troops suffer catastrophic losses, military strategists say. Behind those talks about weapons and ammunition is a deeper political question as Ukraine’s battlefield fortunes rely heavily on the willingness of Western governments to continue their multibillion-dollar military assistance to Kyiv.

And pushing Russian forces out of the entrenched positions they hold in more than 15% of Ukraine’s territory will require an even greater flow of military support—possibly more than the West is willing and able to bear.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told The Wall Street Journal last Monday that the U.S. would support Kyiv in recovering territory Russia has grabbed since launching its large-scale invasion on Feb. 24, suggesting that Washington might not back Ukraine militarily in retaking areas that Russia seized in 2014, including the Crimean Peninsula.

Stop trying to misdirect warmonger. Look it up. I'm not the one that's confused over the meaning of words.

NATO is almost wholly responsible for no war in northern and western Europe in going on 80yrs. The last time an Italian, German or Frenchman lived an entire life without being warred on was a long time ago.

I do generally agree with the tone of the post which barely touches the surface of the totality of the corruption.

however denying the US role in inhibiting war in what was the most repeatedly war torn place on earth for an entire generation is inexcusable.

Pray tell, where are those soldiers going to come from?

Lack of training, shelter, winter clothing, officers, food, water, ammo, and Father Winter.

Britain and France stood by their guarantee of Poland's border and declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939

But Poland needed more than Sitzkreig.

Nonsense. That was the whole point of seizing Donbas and the southern oblasts, to control those resources and landlock Ukraine.

You are correct. The land bridge to Crimea and the Black Sea is an important land resource for the Russians.

If you ever actually lived in Russia like me you would know “globohomo” will be the least of concerns under such a sick system.

I can’t even express in words the daily oppression and sickness 99% of the people feel and are not even allowed to TALK about for fear of being gangraped in actual gulags.

Everyone who was able to already left that garbage long ago and Russia will collapse because of it. Even the wealthiest oil/gas billionaires send all their kids abroad. The only reason the USSR survived so long is you were literally not allowed to leave at gunpoint and forced to live under it!

We must and will help fight back against the expansion of this sick system like was done in the cold war. Or else we will ALL pay MUCH more later...

“As opposed to what? Losing the war? Letting Russia have the natural resources of Ukraine? Those natural resources are valued #4 in the world!”

You might want to read up a bit on the West’s plans to ‘decarbonize’. If Ukraine wins, their Puppet Masters in the EU WILL NOT allow significant development of those resources (mostly carbon-based fuels), and will have them FULLY shutdown by 2050, and mostly shut down much earlier.

At least Russia will develop those resources and make them available, as they don’t let an insane girl from Sweden run their energy policy.

All the technologies already exist for 3-D printed autonomous AI robot troops that don't register politically as troops. Hopefully the transition to robot vs. robot war goes quickly, else the global warmongers will be unleashing continuous mass death and destruction everywhere.

"I, for one, would like to welcome our new autonomous A.I. overlords!"

So it’s not Ukraine’s resources that Putin wants, but Ukraine’s population? I guess that’s one way to describe Putin’s obsession with resurrecting the Russian Empire?
