Former national security adviser John Bolton called the political philosophy of former President Trump “performance art” as Bolton mulls a potential 2024 presidential bid.
Bolton, who served in the Trump administration from 2018 to 2019, told NBC’s Ali Velshi on Saturday that the “fundamental point in politics is philosophy.”
“Everything else flows from that. Donald Trump has no philosophy,” Bolton said. “Donald Trump doesn’t think in policy terms. There is no Trumpism. And there is no real succession to Donald Trump.”
Bolton said Trump is an outlier in the GOP with no clear vision for the party’s future.
“It’s not a conservative philosophy; it’s not philosophy at all,” he said. “It’s performance art. That’s what Donald Trump is.”
Bolton rejected the notion there is a “Trump movement out there,” citing the November midterm elections, in which Trump’s endorsed candidates largely lost up and down the ballot.

Well John has to have some philosophy.
Bolton is an idiot.
The "party" is antithetical to freedom and does not fight our many entrenched enemies of freedom. Trump is all about the future of the COUNTRY, not the party. Bolton's putting party ahead of country tells you all you need to know.
“..the “fundamental point in politics is philosophy.” “
OK genius walrus, what is Jao’s philosophy?
Agree, Bolton is an idiot. It’s McConnell and friends who are the performance artists, dressing up as Conservatives. Trump performed real deeds.
Perv-Stache needs to shut up
Bolton is projecting.
He turned out to be a big scam performer/fake.
Let me hazard:
‘Trumpism” : Do what works well Ignore critics.
STFU Johnny. Your 15 minutes are up. Nobody wants to hear your Trump Trashing.
Trump focused on getting a few important things right. He did. It benefited the country.
If Bush had a philosophy how much of it was he able to put into practice? How much of his philosophy was still intact and credible by the time he left office? How much did it benefit the country?
> “Donald Trump has no philosophy,” Bolton said <
Wrong, For one thing, Trump believed in avoiding war whenever possible.
And that’s what got Bolton, Mattis, etc. so upset. Those guys do like their endless wars.
Donald Trump used the USA’s overwhelming economic advantage to pressure our adversaries rather than the preferred gunboat diplomacy of the Military-Industrial Complex and their allies in Congress.
Basically, he upset their apple cart.
Bolton political philosophy, like all RINOs, is how can I enrich myself. Let Bolton run. He won’t get 1% of the vote.
Most politicians are doing performance art. They sing and dance for the voters but could care less about passing laws that they say they support. Even if you think Trump is just an ego maniac in it for himself than it at least gives him motivation to be the best president possible.
The Hill cares what John Bolton thinks. No one else does.
“Basically, he upset their apple cart.”
And they put the apples back into the cart and carried on.
I was always a big fan of Bolton.
It pains me that he doesnt feel about Trump as I do.
“Bolton said Trump is an outlier in the GOP.”
That’s rich, coming from one the GOP so hated they cried (voinovich) during his hearing for UN ambassador..
He says that like it's a bad thing.

Peculiar color choice, unless of course his white "lab" coat (Scully Men's Duster) is a long-sleeved garment of light.
