COVID-19 and the lockdowns during the pandemic had a significant impact on youth mental health, and the Left’s “woke” ideologies are to blame, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) believes.
“The lockdowns are a big part of this. … But also you have to imagine … who's responsible,” Paul (R-KY) said Friday on Fox News's Ingraham Angle.
“In June of 2020, three months into this, I said, ‘We’ve got to go back to school,’ that it was a mistake to take the kids out of school because they weren’t becoming ill with COVID and they weren’t dying from COVID,” he told host Laura Ingraham.
The Kentucky senator said there’s “no secret” that Dr. Anthony Fauci, who most recently served as the chief medical adviser for President Joe Biden, played a “big part” in this by continuing to press for lockdowns in 2020 and for most of 2021.
“But who was also responsible for telling a 4-year-old that we need to talk about their gender and whether they’re in the appropriate body? Who’s talking about giving picture books to 6-year-olds with illustrations of surgery to remove their genitalia?” he asked.
“It’s Democrat politicians and woke left-wing people. There’s not one Republican,” Paul said.

Rand has been on a roll lately.
I blame them for the “pup” mental health crisis going around among senior military officers also.
One of the best Senators we’ve got. I don’t agree with him on everything, but he’s smart, honest, can’t be bought, and definitely brings a sorely-needed libertarian perspective to most issues.
Rand Paul is one of the very few politicians that I won’t turn the channel when he appears.
Some people seem to think that the “mentally ill” are drooling schizophrenics living in alleys and screaming at fire hydrants. Or something.
But I would say that most mentally ill people are people who simply think in a fundamentally erroneous way. Of course, that sort of opinion is inherently subjective.
But plenty of people seem to think that the US is “the most racist country ever” and that “women are oppressed today” and that America seethes with open “hatred” against homosexuals. That Trump is “literally Hitler” and that Jan 6 was “worse than 9/11”.
That sort of thinking is, to me, a sign of mental illness. There is no basis for any of it, yet people cling to as a fundamental aspect of their own personality. It’s crazy. And the Democrats are responsible for all of that.
It must also involve some abominable sacrilege involving stolen women’s luggage or garments...
At the same time, serious mental illnesses like gender dysphoria are being encouraged and mainstreamed, and drug (ab)use tacitly approved. Doesn’t bode well for America’s future.
