A corps of researchers looking into the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy say they have unearthed proof his alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was involved in an operation by the CIA mere months before the killing, reigniting questions about whether the Oswald truly was alone in his decision to kill the youngest man ever elected president.
In a Tuesday press conference at the National Press Club, Jefferson Morley—a veteran of the D.C. press corps and a preeminent expert on JFK's assassination with the Mary Ferrell Foundation—told reporters that he and attorneys with the foundation obtained documentation relating to a still-classified covert operation approved by senior CIA officials three months before Kennedy's death that suggested the agency used Oswald for intelligence purposes several weeks prior to shooting.
"This is an extraordinarily serious claim, and it has profound implications for the official story," Morley said Tuesday morning in Washington. "The CIA knew far more about the lone gunman than then they are admitting even today. So this story deserves the closest possible scrutiny."
The document, one of several researchers obtained this month as the result of an October lawsuit, is a precursor to a fuller release of documents anticipated by the National Archives this month.
The mandated release of records dates to a 2021 memo by President Joe Biden's administration ordering the release of all documents related to the JFK assassination after several delays by agencies like the CIA and FBI. Attorneys for the Mary Ferrell Foundation argued that the agencies have illegally stalled the release of more than 16,000 additional documents related to the case over concerns they could potentially compromise the names of individuals and the methods used in intelligence-gathering activities more than a half-century ago.
Newsweek reached out to the CIA for comment.

A supersonic jacketed rifle bullet always leaves a much larger exit wound than its entry wound. If the bullet came from the front, the entry wound would have been small and in the front. Instead, the small entry wound was in the rear and the top mid-to-front part of the skull was blown off.
It was under a hundred yards
That is a chip shot even with junk rifle
I have shot many animals.
That is not always the case.
A lot of RATS didn’t like JFK. Something to do with that, “...ask what YOU can do for your country.” thingy.
The Dark Powers at the CIA killed JFK because he introduced silver backed Treasury notes that would chase bad money fiat fed res at interest notes out with interest free good money , jmho.
Whereas Andrew Jackson “ killed the bank”,, JFK was going to sidestep the bank.
Less than a hundred yards. Actually he took several shots the final was 81 meters, and at that range, it was a fairly easy kill.
Like 9/11 and TWA 800...that whole laws of physics thing again!
I’ve been to the fifth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. I’m a decent shot, high school rifle team and a town league but Oswald had been a marine so odds on he was a way better marksman that I am, I stood next to the window where Oswald shot. I’m pretty sure I could have made two out of the three shots he made.
I don’t know if others were involved but there’s nothing superhuman about the marksmanship.
I hope they release something that makes more sense than a lot of the conspiracy garbage that certain folks here are peddling.
Makes the pootie-bots seem rational.
Not on a moving target.
Any claim that they weren't watching a former Marine who had defected to the USSR, then come back to America, doesn't pass the smell test. But just because something smells rotten in Dallas doesn't lead to the conclusion that the spooks were backing Oswald.
This is all being done now to provide a ‘look squirrel’ distraction from the Grenier-’Merchant of Death’ trade and probably other Xiden actions\screwups.
Well, yes.
There was a History channel special several years ago that recreated the conditions. The motorcade was moving slow, and when three shots happened it was moving directly away from the shooters nest.
And I have shot animals moving much faster, running
The car slowed at the right moment
A good read regarding this is “A Texan looks at Lyndon” by J. Everett Haley! Also good reading is about the USS Liberty and how Johnson basically set up the attack on the Navy he commanded.
Yes I’ve been to the 6th floor museum twice and both times marveled at how close the shot was compared the narrative that implies it was “hundreds of yards”.
There’s no way Oswald could have known that! If you’re prepping for a snipe, you practice in intervals! 20/50...etc.
If it wasn't for that Damn film the CIA would have gotten away scot free without all this nonsense.
I believe it was the Secret Service agent trailing Kennedy’s vehicle that accidentally fired the fatal head shot with his AR-15.
