“Sometimes in the shower, I realize they’re gone. I just have these scars.”
Camille Kiefel, 32, had her healthy breasts removed in 2020 to align with her nonbinary gender identity. She says her doctors approved the surgery after two Zoom meetings, breezing past a whole host of mental health issues.
Now that Camille is in a better place mentally, she realizes her surgery was a mistake. So, two and a half years later, she’s suing her social worker, therapist, and the gender clinics they work for — Brave Space Oregon and Quest Center for Integrative Health — seeking up to $850,000 in damages.
As a child, Camille never gave her gender identity a thought. But when her best friend was raped by a relative in sixth grade, she said she became acutely aware of her femininity. Around that time her father also imparted well-meaning advice that backfired.
“My dad told me about how men talked about girls, because he wanted to protect me and to get me to dress more conservatively,” she told The Post. “But it made my anxiety worse. All that really screwed me up. I remember I was even afraid to be alone.”
From that point on, she began dressing more androgynously. “I didn’t want to highlight my curves. I had a lot of discomfort around my breasts and hips.”
But the idea that she might not actually be a woman didn’t occur to Camille until she enrolled at Portland State University, where she minored in gender studies and was introduced to alternative views about sex and gender.
By the time she reached her mid-20s, she embraced a nonbinary label and used she/they pronouns. All the while, she was struggling with a slew of mental-health issues, including anxiety disorder, social anxiety, PTSD, major depressive disorder and ADHD.

This woman was 30 years old when she had this done. She will have to take responsibility for her own actions and mistakes.
I wish her success, but that’s why you, or your guardian, signed a release before your surgery, er, butchery.
If she was anorexic and the doctor prescribed diet pills or liposuction, the doctor would be in prison and the jury would go after the doctor, the hospital, and the surgical group for millions. The state medical board would also quickly pull the licenses of all involved for fear of the board being held complicit in the crime.
Yet, when someone with a mental disorder affecting body image related to gender goes to the doctor, they're told their gender dysphoria doesn't exist and then they get permanently mutilated, including removing organs for conceiving or bearing children.
She was 30 years old when she did this, she was no KID!
History is replete with examples of oddball/barbaric surgical interventions to treat mental illness, under the guise of "science" - from bloodletting, to trepanning, to electro-shock, to lobotomy
"Gender affirmation surgery" is just another false and dangerous fad which will soon be revealed as such. At that point - doctors who do it should be prepared for a strong and well-deserved backlash - financial and otherwise.
She is at least the second American who has filed a lawsuit.
Good for her. Hoping to see many more lawsuits.
Sorry, couldn't resist!
Sorry Camille, but in 2020 you were above the age of 25 and your brain was fully developed. You had the full cognitive ability to reason out your decision. Remember as an ADULT all decisions have consequences and as an ADULT you have to take responsibility for them. STOP being a victim.
I’m assuming that nobody held a gun to your head or drugged you to make you pliable for this decision. YOU MADE IT FREELY you were not forced. Coerced YES, forced NO. I assume the $$$ for the removal didn’t come out of your pocket, so what now, you want DAMAGES and what a complete reconstruction?
I probably just should have said “Tough Noogies” from the beginning, but these gender dysfunctional people with “buyers remorse” really piss me off.
Don’t get me started on my opinion of the “Medical Professionals” involved. BUTCHERS!!!
A partial lobotomy must be part of the procedure. These people are crazy.
Unless someone finds that she lacked capacity to give informed consent for the “treatment”, which is doubtful, I don’t see how a lawsuit goes anywhere. Her treatment was, by all accounts, successful in that she got what she wanted at the time.
I hate to say it...fk it. It had really bad parents that failed it. It depended on the village and the village offered it up for sacrifice. It’s lucky to be alive. I had a few friends that made stupid choices and they’re gone.
I’ve been exceedingly happy with my penis my whole life.
We’re best buddies…
She was 30 when she had this done. Not sure she has much grounds for a lawsuit. She’s (supposedly) an adult, and responsible for her decisions. I’m sure she signed some paperwork indicating that she was aware of what was being done, and that she agreed to it.
and if i ask doctors to chop off my perfectly good arm?
they will refuse
and refer me to a psychiatrist
there is an actual dysphoria that makes you think your arms and legs are foreign objects
when your mind and reality does not intersect
reality rules
only for gender dysphoria the LEFT insists that the mind rules
Too bad for this young woman, that she was subjected to this blatant and palpable malpractice. Good for others if she get a massive settlement. Let’s see what the insurance companies do to the premiums they charge genital mutilation practitioners.
I don't think it's profit so much as ideological persuasion. I wonder what malpractice underwriters think about this new form of risk.
Years ago, a serial rapist decided he could be rehabilitated by being castrated, literally. The problem was no surgeon would agree to remove his healthy testicles, either fearing he would sue them or being concerned about violating their code of ethics. Now they line up to mutilate healthy young people.
Needs to also sue the people that are promoting this.
These people need to spend CENTURIES in prison.
The Democrat response is likely to provide doctors with legal immunity from such lawsuits. The agenda must move forward.
not to put too fine a point on it
but i spend most of my waking hours
trying to get my hands on a pair of breasts
so it baffles me
why anyone would want to get rid of theirs
