Russia, Ukraine can’t negotiate their way out of war. One side has to lose | Guest Opinion
The Miami Hearald via Yahoo ^ | December 1st, 2022 | Eugene Finkel

We have seen an increase in calls for a negotiated solution of the war in Ukraine. From the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, from progressive members of Congress and from leading international relations scholars, a growing number of voices urge the United States to invest in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and to give peace a chance. According to some reports, the Biden administration is also warming up to the thought.

It’s a dangerous idea.

Fears of nuclear escalation between Russia and NATO drive many to argue for negotiations, and although the impetus is well-intentioned, the suggestion is naive and impractical. In Ukraine, the choice is not between a costly, bloody war and diplomacy. The choice is between a bloody war and an equally bloody peace — which would itself lead to even-larger confrontation. The sad reality is that not all military problems have political solutions. Any discussions of ending the war should recognize this fact.

It's irreconcilable differences.

Somebody has to win. Somebody has to lose.

No "deal" will be worth spit.

Washington’s Carthaginian Peace Collides With Reality

The Biden administration refuses to tell the American people the truth: Ukraine is not winning and will not win this war.

Col Douglas Macregor / Nov 29

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/washingtons-carthaginian-peace-collides-with-reality/

The national political and military leaders who committed America to wars of choice in Vietnam, the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Iraq, did so as a rule because they were convinced the fighting would be short and decisive. American presidents, presidential advisors, and senior military leaders never stopped to consider that national strategy, if it exists at all, consists of avoiding conflict unless the nation is attacked and compelled to fight.

The latest victim of this mentality is Ukraine.

No reason they can’t have “talks”, especially using lower level officials.

Or putin can just “declare” victory like he “declared” war

Deal will be reached quickly when Biden stops laundering money through Ukraine.

Kinda like Afghanistan? Vietnam? Iraq?

“Only a military solution is possible now. Diplomacy will become viable only when one of the sides becomes too weak to keep fighting and gives up claims to eastern and southern Ukraine.”

Millions of Ukrainians have ALREADY fled from their country.
When remaining Ukrainians freeze this winter, and experience food shortages more will flee from their country.

NATO is runnign short on ammunition and arms. US reserves of same are depleted. NATO is a paper tiger since Europeans spend lot less than United states based on GDP.

I agree with the generalpremise, but there is absolutely no way the Russians are going to pay any reparations, ever. And no way to make them pay, either.

Only cha.ce would be legal judgements against Russia funded by Russian money in European banks.

Neither side will be allowed to end this proxy war. Too many people don’t get it. This is WWIII orchestrated by powers demanding to rule the world.

There will never be reparations.

And Russia will never leave Donbas or Crimea.

Build a solution/end over those facts.

We’ve already sunk $80 billion (and counting) into this money laundering corrupt country to no avail and now Zelensky says he’s gonna need a trillion to rebuild. Why would any American want to spend this kind of money on Ukraine? Are you crazy? Russia considers this an existential war for its survival and is NOT going to lose, and would even resort to nukes as a last option. You war mongering neocon scumbags disgust me. Just total idiots.

This war will end on Vlad’s terms….and the West knows it. This will go down as another Biden Fubar, just like his Afghanistan debacle, Covid vax scam, etc….
The sad part, Ukraine was utterly destroyed, the EU crippled, and the US hegemony finally broken.

Carry on war cheerleaders, there is a price to pay for supporting a senile old man bent on crippling America.

He should just declare victory and have a parade, imo

West’s willful betrayal of their own treaties is what has doomed a negotiated settlement. None of the past treaties were worth toilet paper. All were ignored. All pleas by Russia to implement and adhere to the agreed upon terms were laughed at.

Absent some bizarre twist, the russkies have already concluded they must fight until they can dictate the terms of surrender.

The russkies know that now.

Put differently, Ukraine has been de- energized, de- industrialized, de- populated, in the process of being de- militarized and hopefully de- Nazified.

The EU is suffering and unable to care for its citizens, and every sub zero day more Ukies cross into the EU. The West goes deeper into unpayable debt.Looks to me like there is already a clear winner….and Vlad continues to say Checkmate, while raking in the bucks.

Ukraine under the corrupted little beggar’s leadership has destroyed it, the Ukies should have never violated the Minsk Agreements they signed, and the US should have never supported this regional conflict.

One big Russian Victory that ends the Ukraine Army will do the trick—as Appomattox did in our Civil War. That or Kiev falls to Russia and Mr. Z. is captured. What ever it is—it must happen soon.

Time will tell. Wait til March 2023 and a winner will be visible. Maybe even sooner. Once the shooting stops we can figure out peace all can live with. Sadly, lots of folks will be dead then.

How about the Russians go home to Moscow and stop claiming, for example, a Ukrainian city of a million people they don’t even occupy is part of Russia? That sick fantasy is Kanye on Alex Jones level crazy right there. Russia can leave Ukraine any time they want. Nobody will stop them.

This is existential for Russia and they know it now.

Either TPTB back off their attempt to destroy Russia or we fry.

I believe Putin.
