A reparations committee in California has suggested that descendants of slaves in the state should be compensated $223,200 each for 'housing discrimination'.

The nine-member Reparations Task Force was formed by California Governor Gavin Newsom as part of the country's largest ever effort to address reparations for slavery.

A focus of the California task force has been 'housing discrimination' - it has estimated the 2.5 million Black Californians require compensation of around $569billion, according to the New York Times.

Didn’t they emigrate from China so what claim do they have?
I’m sure a lot of people got a raw deal coming from Europe as well working in sweat shops, and dying of exhaustion. Getting ridiculous.

Logically, if your ancestors were brought involuntarily from Africa as slaves, you should be entitled to a one-way airline ticket back to Africa.

Abe Lincoln thought this also. I'd be glad to empty the 'hood and assist them in settling in West Africa and becoming canon fodder in places like Liberia and Congo. Archie Bunker was right..."Love it or leave it meatheads"

Congratulations to all the dummies that haven’t yet abandoned the RAT utopia of Cauliphonya yet.

CA doesn’t have the money to pay for this! You know who will help pay for this? Every other state in the county, when the federal govt bails us out.

Don’t worry, you’ll get a big bite out of this $hit sandwich.

This will only effect Californians directly.

Ha..ha..ha... you forgot to mark the sentence as being sarcasm.

Socialists spend other peoples money. If Gavin's program goes forward, I don't believe for 1 minute that he and his commie/socialist/democrat comrades will pay for the program with only with dollars from CA state taxes and CA bonds. Like every blue state and city - the commies have perfected through technicalities, law loopholes, conflation and the courts - how to make the rest of us pay for their folly. It has to stop!

That would be unconstitutional, as it would be the government of one state taxing inhabitants of another state.

569 BILLION divided by 223,200 equals 2,549,283

That’s a LOT of ‘descendants’.

(I’m sure he means to include the descendants of descendants as well.)

Was it not a former slave who became wealthy in the L.A. area, on real estate? Read that somewhere.

Interesting.
I have, I think, a legit claim for White slavery reparations. My first family members to reach the New World was an illiterate Welch boy and his sister who were shipped to the island of Nevis to cut down trees before sugarcane was planted. Indentured servants, no pay but free passage. As I recall, that was in 1619.

After five years, they arrived on the coast of South (or North) Carolina, penniless but free. And then black slaves were brought in to Nevis.

Respectfully and with a bit of sarcasm, the Constitution says and means whatever the USSC says it says and means.
