MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is urging Congress to come together in a bipartisan fashion to pass legislation to prevent a looming rail strike that would cripple the American economy, calling it the "best way forward" amid stalled labor negotiations between the major freight railroads and four hold-out unions.
Buttigieg's comments came during a Tuesday evening interview with Fox News Digital at the Memphis International Airport, where he touted a $174 million investment from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for the production of de-icing pads at the facility
"Where I hope to see it going is bipartisan cooperation to move this quickly through Congress and get it to the president's desk," Buttigieg said. "Look, I don't care what your politics are, America can't have a rail shutdown. There is no substitute for a well-functioning rail system in the country."

Ah, a person who’s never had a real job is gonna tell folks who actually produce value to society what to do.
Oh, forgot, gubmit is FOR those who have no natural abilities.
Thought this was a done deal awhile ago? Didn’t Potatus take a victory lap on this right before the midterms?
Did he come up with that playing Choo-Choo with his husband?
There is no substitute for a well-functioning rail system in the country.”

Pete did not mean trains.
I bet you thought it was the Executive Branch that did these negotiations, that’s because it is THEIR JOB!!!
Tell bootyboy to go pound sand
My question is...what exactly do they want congress to do?
What day do pitchers and catchers report?
I don’t mean to give Congress any ideas, but here’s an idea from the past —
The Anti-dog-eat-dog Rule is passed by the National Alliance of Railroads in section 145, allegedly to prevent “destructive competition” between railroads. The rule gives the Alliance the authority to forbid competition between railroads in certain parts of the country.
Congress needs to partly deregulate the Rails.
What, exactly, is Congress going to do? Force them to work? Force the railroads to pay more money or whatever it is that the unions want?
Private industry - government needs to stay out.
ButtPlug is only good at one thing and it’s not his job performance
He’s saying please, please pass another unread multi-thousand page cramdown bill before it is read.
The queer speaks.
Yep, that is what they are up to and the dumb bunny GOP will deliver as usual with lame excuses for why they had to be lame.
Yes, this moron and the guy who gave him the job could and should have been more proactive about this looming disaster. I think we can all agree that the last guy in the White House would already have this problem solved.
But this whole thing started in March 2017 and has take this long to manifest itself and come to a head.
And the unions are just as much to blame for it, if not more, than anyone or anything, while that sat by and watched companies cut positions and dumped larger and larger workloads on the folks that weren’t fired.
Most of those guys being senior and looking to retirement. And unlike years past, there weren’t hordes of young men lining up to take a job with the railroads and the crazy pension that goes with it.
You mean the guy who loads the coal into Pete’s combustion engine?
In a way he’s right. Congress has been given explicit rights to regulate interstate commerce. It should have been in their court since the beginning. Biden kept playing the unions until after the election. Everything Joe touches turns to shite.
>>My question is...what exactly do they want congress to do?
Get the blame.
Communists are good at fixing 21st century problems with 19th century solutions.
