Artillery Is Breaking in Ukraine. It’s Becoming a Problem for the Pentagon.

11/28/22

WASHINGTON — Ukrainian troops fire thousands of explosive shells at Russian targets every day, using high-tech cannons supplied by the United States and its allies. But those weapons are burning out after months of overuse, or being damaged or destroyed in combat, and dozens have been taken off the battlefield for repairs, according to U.S. and Ukrainian officials.

20 NATO States “Pretty Tapped Out” After Weapons Transfers To Ukraine

11/28/22

“Two-thirds of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have depleted their stockpiles by sending weapons to Kiev, according to an alliance official. Even larger NATO states are struggling to meet the demands of Ukraine’s war effort.

The New York Times reported on Sunday the North Atlantic alliance is struggling to meet Kiev’s battlefield needs. According to one NATO official, 20 out of 30 members are “pretty tapped out” regarding their ability to supply Ukraine with additional weapons. While larger states like the US, France, Germany, and Italy have the ability to arm Ukraine, those governments have also resisted sending specific weapons systems requested by Kiev.

The US has already sent over 50% of our Stinger Missiles to Ukraine. And, the production line shut down 10 years ago. And, 40% of all US Javalin missiles have been sent too.

The latest promised shipment of HIMAR Missiles may not come off the line for 3 years.

Hey, you got this backwards! The Biden Administration FR spokespeople have been running your “corrected” story for eight months now. The Russians ran out all equipment back in April.

Golly. Hope there’s no trouble in Asia. That would be awkward.

As article states......”Kyiv relies entirely on its allies for weapons”.....

So one can assume the war will end when there are no weapons given.

I have heard this a few times but I don’t know if its totally accurate. I know our government is run by morons but even this is beyond the pale if its true.

Kyiv relies entirely on its allies for weapons.

No, it doesn't. Nobody who knows a thing about this war actually believes that.

If that’s the case, the U.S. was/is ill-prepared for war, if they needed to go to war. And then, the Europeans too? Apparently, nobody was expecting any kind of long-draw-out conflict or war.

Somebody has been very neglectful, and the enemies are taking note. China and Iran and N.Korea and Venezuela and Cuba and Afghanistan, could not hope for a better situation than then one the U.S. and its allies find themselves in.

Ukraine is just a regional conflict, and a world war would deplete all the weapons of the western countries in a matter of weeks.

1.) Europe needs to form its own unified European military and deal with Russia, leaving us out of this.

2.) Or NATO can just surround Ukraine as Putin isn’t dumb enough to go outside Ukraine.

3.) Defend our borders, not Ukraine’s.

The largest foreign contributor, by far, has been Russia.

After the Russians run away and leave stuff behind.

How is the opinion of a couple of TV producers in India worth thinking about? They don't seem to have any information not readily available to any of us.

They do however seem to think that the US and European nations have a limited capacity to build arms. That's a strange theory given that the USA and Europe both have very large defense industries.

That’s not a position any country fighting a war for its existence should be in – relying on others for its defense needs

like the way the United States depended on France in its first few years of existence?

“NATO was unprepared for a big war, especially with Russia.”

NATO’s whole existence was to prepare for a big war with the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact Countries.

The Russian Military force structure is 1/4 of the Soviet Union, and the Warsaw Pact Countries are now part of NATO.

NATO has not lost a single soldier in this war, and Russia’s conventional military equipment is already over halfway destroyed.

Based on Russian losses and Poland’s contracted arms purchases, Poland alone is on track to outgun Russia in the next few years, in conventional military capability. Italy has a bigger GDP than Russia, as do California or Texas. Russia does have a much bigger impression of itself however.

US Military aid to the Ukraine for this war, was a little over 2% of the FY2022 Defense budget, and about half of Russia’s conventional combat power has been destroyed or captured.
