Western sanctions catch up with Russia's wartime economy

... The situation has worsened considerably since the summer when, buoyed by a steady stream of oil and gas revenue, the Russian economy seemed to stabilize. Figures released by the Finance Ministry last week show a key economic indicator—tax revenue from the non-oil and gas sector—fell 20 percent year in October compared with a year earlier, while the Russian state statistics agency Rosstat reported that retail sales fell 10 percent year on year in September, and cargo turnover fell 7 percent....

“The spiral is escalating, and there is no way out of this now.” ...

The Western ban on technology imports is affecting most sectors of the economy, while the Kremlin’s forced mobilization of more than 300,000 Russian conscripts to serve in Ukraine, combined with the departure of at least as many abroad fleeing the draft, has dealt a further blow, economists said. In addition, Putin’s own restrictions on gas supplies to Europe, followed by the unexplained explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, has led to a sharp drop in gas production—down 20 percent in October compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, oil sales to Europe are plummeting ahead of the EU embargo expected to be imposed Dec. 5....

Deeper problems were also lurking in the Russian banking sector, where most accounting has been classified. The Russian Central Bank reported this week that a record $14.7 billion in hard currency was withdrawn from the Russian banking system in October, amid increasing anxiety over mobilization and the state of the economy....

Last week, as the Russian economy officially entered into recession, Central Bank Chairwoman Nabiullina told lawmakers that next year the situation could get darker still. “We really need to look at the situation very soberly and with our eyes open. Things may get worse, we understand that,” she said....

"Putin’s announcement in September of a partial troop mobilization dealt an enormous blow to business sentiment. “For many Russian companies the reality of the war sank in,” said Janis Kluge, senior associate at the German Institute for Security and International Affairs. “It became clear that this is going to continue for a long time. Now expectations are much worse than they were over the summer.”"

So how is this any different than our failing economy that they keep lying about?

Putler doesn’t need Ukraine as Ukraine doesn’t need Russia.

...meanwhile Ukraine is on the verge of being emptied of people, due to no more electricity and Europe has shutdown their gas-hogging industry to avoid freezing to death.

I suspect that energy-rich Russians are glad they are where they are this winter.

For Russia to win, Putin will be compelled to go back to the WWII strategy of Stalin. Against the Germans he had millions of men and artillery in the many tens of thousands. The men were expendable, but he did treasure his artillery. He laid waste to German lines followed by expendable infantry. Casualties were horrific on both sides. It worked. It does appear that Putin is running out of smart weapons, but Ukraine is not. Ukraine has the Western World’s industrial capacity on its side.

Just a comment and analysis. I am not pro-Russian. I am pro Ukrainian with many reservations about the corruption in the Ukraine. It is our money and our weapons; both should be used properly.

My questions are as follows:
1. If Putin is in a position of losing, will he go tactical nukes? A man in a corner faced with death is dangerous. If he loses he would be killed. Without doubt that would escalate to a nuclear exchange between NATO and Russia. Nobody wins that war except China.
2. If the Ukraine wins, what does it become? It has always been corrupted. Will it become part of the New World Order in the vision of Soros. If such, I hope they lose as they will be a force for evil as is Putin.
3. Is there a Russian patriot general that will put a bullet in Putin’s head. I pray there is.

Per “Credence Clear Water Revival” THERE IS A BAD MOON ARISING.

Here’s what doesn’t make sense to me. The left says that ww2 ended the depression. So by that logic, wouldn’t the war in Ukraine help Russian economy?

Bottomline: War does not help an economy.

Russia will develop much greater manufacturing capabilities.

Its weapons will become much better. They will eventually become battle-proven.

The Western ban on technology imports is affecting most sectors of the economy, ==

The effect is temporary because there is a Chine which replaces West in Russian trades. All what West achieved by its sanctions that Russia gradually became independent of West trades.

If you know numbers you knew that China-Russia trade increases 2-3 times during this year. Same time trades with West decreases down. But at whole the international trade of Russia approximately same.

China simply pushes out western companies from Russia.

You are correct. Putin will use nukes without hesitation in this case. Because he knows that West has to lose much bigger than Russia. Just compare the population density in western Europe for example. Thank God for all us Russia isn’t losing. She just warming up.

2. If the Ukraine wins, what does it become? It has always been corrupted. Will it become part of the New World Order in the vision of Soros. If such, I hope they lose as they will be a force for evil as is Putin.==

Ukraine will never win. It is ridiculous because its a same if you say Canada may win over USA. Is it possible?

3. Is there a Russian patriot general that will put a bullet in Putin’s head. I pray there is.==

Yeah Putin may die. He is not a immortal. But anyone who will come in replacement will be much much more Putin.

See Prigozhin and Kadyrov. Those 2 are absolutely thugs. But they have been gathering the popularity over this war. Also 4 star general Surovikin. If he will come in charge then you may see tactical nuclear war right away. Today it is only Putin who stops it. Those are hawks but Putin is a pigeon in this war.

So I mean West will miss Putin to compare the next guy.

nick, put down the Krokodil, you’re hallucinating

Putin isn’t going to use any nukes, cuz the moment he would try that, Russia would be flattened ... with the World’s approval

Putin is running Russia into the ground, your own country’s official stats tell the truth

hopefully someone inside Russia will off this bastard

Russia won’t stop expanding into other countries, and it won’t stop building up and updating its military forces to conquer the USA. Our general choices are to solve the problem now or to wait for it to build up much more and come after us.

As for the Russian leaders, they are already strategically challenged. But the more mad and emotionally driven, the better for us.

Yes. Russia has no defenses against an allied assault from our side. After an attempted nukefest, Russia would be occupied and under control before they knew it. The same goes for any nations that would aid Russia in a war against us. Natural resources (especially energy resources) would be extracted long after to pay for any damage done to us with a nuclear attack.

We could have conquered and occupied Russia during the dissolution of the Soviet Union with a plan to keep it indefinitely, but we don’t behave that way. And goodness does not equate to weakness.

Russia occupied? Don’t amused me))). You are just funny))..

Didn’t you already forget Afghanistan? And how it worked with small 5 mils nation with occupant army of 0.5 mils..

To occupy Russia 155 mils people you will need an army of 15-20 mils men but first to win thermonuclear war. Which is unwinnable.
