Will Trump special prosecutor backfire on Democrats? Some think so, and here's why

Many in traditional news media have suggested the Biden Justice Department's appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate Donald Trump is an ominous sign for the former president. But famed television journalist and best-selling author Bill O'Reilly has a different take, predicting it will boomerang on Democrats.

O'Reilly told the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show that Attorney General Merrick Garland's appointee will have to probe what the FBI knew in advance of the Jan. 6 riot, whether law enforcement could have done more to prevent the tragedy, and why a reported eight bureau assets were embedded among the protesters who went to the Capitol that day. Those are all issues the Democrat-led House Committee on Jan. 6 failed to address.

Garland's appointment of another special counsel to investigate Trump is "a drastic mistake," warned O'Reilly.

"In order for [Jack Smith] to investigate what Trump did or did not do on Jan. 6, he has to get into the FBI and what the FBI did or did not do," O'Reilly explained in a wide-ranging interview Tuesday night. "He has to. He can't bury it."

Noting that the New York Times reported that "there were at least eight FBI agents embedded in the most virulent protesters that day," the former longtime anchor of Fox News Channel's prime-time ratings hit "The O'Reilly Factor" said: "They were there. The FBI was there. Well, what the deuce were they doing?"

That very issue came up at a recent House committee hearing during questioning of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who pointedly refused to answer whether FBI assets were dressed in pro-Trump garb at the Capitol when the riots occurred but adamantly denied any FBI personnel instigated the attacks that day.

Since a Federal Judge ordered the names in Maxwell's little black book to be released due to public's right to know, where is that list of names anyway?

It would be interesting to see someone tally up the costs of all the Dem efforts in recent years to get rid of Trump. It has to be in the hundreds of millions, mostly if not entirely paid for by taxpayers.

Very little backfires on the Democrats because they are currently the only team on the field competing. The GOP is still in the locker room trying to find their jock straps.

No they won’t! They’ll ignore ALL of that and focus on every syllable Trump wrote or spoke. Everything else will strangely be “out of scope for this investigation”.

When the new House is seated in January, they can defund the special prosecutor. They can't fire him, but they can prevent the government issuing a paycheck for that "work". Garland isn't a bright as he thinks.

Apparently O’Reilly didn’t pay any attention to the Mueller investigation when Mueller admitted he conducted that investigation for years without discovering who Fusion GPS or Perkins Coie were, who the “informants” who concocted the “pee pee dossier” were, etc. He should do his research before he bloviates.

Surely you jest. Doubtful the Dem Special Prosecutor will investigate any of that. He advised Lois Lerner at the IRS when she was targeting conservative organizations. His wife is big Dem donor. He’s Dem hack who has already proven to be hostile to patriotic Americans.

Just appoint them for everyone who we think might declare their candidacy. It can be a “pre-primary” elimination match.

I predict that the IC will assume control of the J6 video and that it will never be made public! That, IMHO, is the main reason that he was appointed.

Further complicated by their being blind in one eye and unable to see out of the other.

Mueller, that name rings a bell but that was many, many moons ago. Trump needs to start calling himself “The Swamp Fox”. The bass turd RATS just can’t catch him no matter what they try.
