Montana Sen. Steve Daines is the new chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Scott is no longer a member of the Senate GOP leadership team

Florida GOP Sen. Rick Scott is no longer the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee after challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for leader of the caucus on Wednesday.

McConnell defeated Scott 37-10.

Montana GOP Sen. Steve Daines was elected the new chair of the NRSC.

McConnell, the longest serving Senate GOP leader, said on Tuesday that he welcomed the challenge from Scott but predicted he had enough votes to win.

“I don’t own this job. Anybody in the conference is certainly entitled to challenge me," McConnell said at the GOP leadership press conference. "And I welcome the contest.”

Scott was "un-invited" to the press conference after announcing his decision to challenge McConnell for the chamber's GOP leaders position, according to Scott's office.

Scott was a member of the Senate GOP leadership team as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and typically appeared at the weekly news conference with McConnell and other GOP leaders.

During a news conference after the GOP leadership election on Wednesday, McConnell was asked for his assessment of Scott's performance as NRSC chair. He declined to share an opinion and deferred to Daines. The Montana senator said he would make decisions based on lessons learned during the 2022 midterm election.

In February he will be 81.
Will he croak in office like Byrd?
Who’s the Kentucky heir apparent?
Since Kentucky had a Rat governor, won’t the likely appointee if it becomes necessary be a Rat?

Do they have clear fields of fire and necessary self sufficiency supplies and crops?

The same senator daines who didn't say anything when biden pinched the nipples of his niece during a photo session....

All captured in a c-span video

It just shows daines is known to be a team player

I'm just not sure who that team represents

Trump seems uninterested in working for things he says he wants. Speaking at a rally is not that much work for a politician.

More like mountains, trees and moonshine. Plenty of sustenance and moonshine. May I add some real good pickin and grinning Bluegrass Music.

“And Trump was busy rushing his 2024 announcement instead of helping with the leadership changes. Will he also do the same with the RNC leadership and then claim none of these folks are helping his favored candidates or him? Trump should have been up front showing some leadership and helping replace McConnell, etc.”

Go stock it where the sun don’t shine, anti-Trumper.

“I am done voting for those in the Senate. They can just lose and lose big.”

No, it will be you and the country that will lose.

“Since Kentucky had a Rat governor, won’t the likely appointee if it becomes necessary be a Rat?”

If a US Senator from Kentucky dies or resigns from office, the party to which the departed Senator belonged provides the governor with three names. The Governor may choose one of those three nominees to fill the remainder of the term.

If McConnell dies or leaves office before his term expires, the Democrat governor must follow the state law and fill the job from one of the three names he receives from the state GOP.

Well, that’s at least something.

Chrome Dome and Linda probably cost us 10-15 seats in the house and at least NV and Az in the senate with their idiocy.

The only way to get rid of those big RINOs in the Senate is to not vote for them, Trying to get someone to run against them is about impossible because of the clout they have. They know how to intimidate and to outspend. How do we win?

How about a coherent, constructive conversation or is that beyond you? Funny if we repeat the same BS Lyn’ Ted supporters tried when we all dumped him. Oh well.

McConnell and his band of vested interest crooks.

They are still scared to death of Trump and fear him mightily, that’s why they defunded his “inferior” endorsed candidates to make them look inferior.

McConnell acts like a British Lord of old. And we know to take care of his ilk. History shows us how.

MAGA !

Another loss for Trump. He wanted Rick Scott to lead senate Republicans.

When was the last successful primary defeat of a sitting Republican Senator? I can’t remember any.

Well we have to admit that Scott did a piss poor job of electing Rs to the Senate.

They should also dump Rona ROMNEY McDaniel as RNC Chair
