Montana Sen. Steve Daines is the new chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Scott is no longer a member of the Senate GOP leadership team

Florida GOP Sen. Rick Scott is no longer the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee after challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for leader of the caucus on Wednesday.

McConnell defeated Scott 37-10.

Montana GOP Sen. Steve Daines was elected the new chair of the NRSC.

McConnell, the longest serving Senate GOP leader, said on Tuesday that he welcomed the challenge from Scott but predicted he had enough votes to win.

“I don’t own this job. Anybody in the conference is certainly entitled to challenge me," McConnell said at the GOP leadership press conference. "And I welcome the contest.”

Scott was "un-invited" to the press conference after announcing his decision to challenge McConnell for the chamber's GOP leaders position, according to Scott's office.

Scott was a member of the Senate GOP leadership team as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and typically appeared at the weekly news conference with McConnell and other GOP leaders.

During a news conference after the GOP leadership election on Wednesday, McConnell was asked for his assessment of Scott's performance as NRSC chair. He declined to share an opinion and deferred to Daines. The Montana senator said he would make decisions based on lessons learned during the 2022 midterm election.

And the punishment for challenging the deep state must be swift and severe. Can’t have that happening again.

Well, guess what. Something DOES have to be done with SS an Medicare. They’re both going to go bankrupt in their current forms.

If I could go out to the AARP about this subject, I would yell at the audience, “HEY, YOU DUMB GEEZERS, OF WHICH I WILL SOON BE ONE! WE MUST REFORM THESE PROGRAMS, OR SOMETIME SOON, YOU’LL GET REDUCED CHECKS AND INSURANCE, OR NONE AT ALL! CAN YOU GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEADS???”

But that’s just me.

The Republicans will never win. They don’t know how to work together and the leadership is nasty and out for themselves. I am done voting for those in the Senate. They can just lose and lose big.

How do we get rid of McConnell?

Poison him or wait for him to die.

Why would Scott waste his time being head of the NRSC if McConnell will just spend donated money to elect Senators loyal to McConnell. The job is a thankless task when your party’s leader is working against the party.

Right? “I don't own this job” / uninvites Scott from press conference and removes him from the committee.

Get rid of all our octogenarians. The party..and the country…are being run by the crabby liberal elderly.

Term limits, and maybe a mandatory retirement age of 75.

Meaning standby for the Charlie Brown treatment. The Deep State/GOPE is in charge of both Houses. They will "work" with Chuckie and whoever replaces Nanzi.

The persecutions by DOJ/FIB of MAGA Deplorables will intensify. Congressional pubbies will do as much for the new victims as they have for the J6 gulag inmates. Pray for these United States.
