Gov. Ron DeSantis may believe Tuesday night’s re-election was a “win for the ages,” but former President Donald Trump isn’t sold.
Trump took to Truth Social to diminish DeSantis’ accomplishment Wednesday.
“Now that the Election in Florida is over, and everything went quite well, shouldn’t it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year, 5.7 Million to 4.6 Million? Just asking?”

Lol… how many elections has Desantis competed and won. Trump is 1 of3. He can’t be the one who approved mail in ballots and then complained of fraud that mail in ballots took to historic levels.
Why is he doing this?

Trump does not like DeSantis’ sacred. That’s all.
DeSans won by over 22% of the vote in Fla. A record. Just saying. That is probably with cheating. I love my state of Alabama where you HAVE to register prior to the election. Show up and SHOW VALID ID. You vote and go. Our little precinct is like 99% republican. One time I saw the signing in list and there were like 255 GOP and THREE commies signed in. Love my district. We are SOLID Christian, Conservative, Patriots, American loving, Military supporting, down home country folks. Just saying.
Trump sees the RINO push to elect DeSantis and he's not going to sit back. Nor should he.
And no I don't mean that regular DeSantis supporters here are RINOs. They aren't. That's not who I am talking about.
Donald Trump is hoping that his attacks on Ron DeSantis works in the same way that his attacks on Ted Cruz worked in 2016
We all well remember the friendship and camaraderie between Trump and Cruz early in the 2016 election season. Until Trump got nasty and vicious. Which worked. Ask anyone here at Free Republic who supported Ted Cruz back then and they will tell you that they had to shut up or be zotted.
Unfortunately for Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis is no Ted Cruz. DeSantis is smarter, brighter and more effective. Cruz would have been an all right choice in 2016, but DeSantis is better than all right. It’s getting clearer and clearer that DeSantis is the best choice for 2024.
I don’t recall Trump getting 59% of the vote in 2020 like DeSantis did this election.
I read Trump is threatening to expose some dirt on DeSantis’ wife.
If he did that he would forever lose any support I would give him. Even if he was the repub nominee in 2024 I would not vote for him.

Donald Trump is playing the same dirty politics against Ron DeSantis as he did against Ted Cruz back in 2016. Like it or not, that is a fact.

Agreed...while Trump’s personality was just what was needed in past times, those times are past. At this point it seems that DeSantis can produce results while having a personality that’s appealing/less of a turnoff to more people (that said, of course the left is going to viciously attack him).

I have stood by Trump through thick and thin-
Consider him a flawed candidate fighting for a just cause, but the cause is more than the man, I am not a royalist or fanboy.
When he first attacked DeSantis I thought, OK, it’s a mistake and everybody is allowed to f*ck up once in a while.
But this is different- he’s like a dog on a bone now. To snuff a teammate.
Sorry Trump, you stand for the right things, but you are not God.
And if I think you are damaging the cause- well, sayonara.
Trump can fight but he alienates. DeSantis can fight too AND he wins over enemies. No contest.

Yup, things like openly threatening a potential political competitor with blackmail doesn’t help a whole lot. I mean - WTH?? :

Trump won by 4%. DeSantis won by 20%. It’s a mind-bogglingly stupid comment. I think his mind is gone.

DeSantis is doing exactly that. So whoever is advising him on this strategy should continue to advise DeSantis onward.
Trump is really turning people off right now. Sure, there are a lot of diehards here that won’t see it.
