Problems with vote-counting machines at some polling locations in Maricopa County, home to more than half of Arizona’s voters, became grist for prominent right-wing voices who deny the legitimacy of the 2020 election to claim without evidence that Tuesday’s vote was also fraudulent.
Tabulators at about a quarter of the 223 voting locations in the county experienced problems, county officials said. Elections officials were fixing the problems and advised voters to either wait for tabulators to come back online, go to another voting location or to drop ballots in secure slots. Ballots dropped in the slots are counted either at the end of the day or in the coming days at the county’s tabulation center in downtown Phoenix, said Megan Gilbertson, spokesperson for the county’s election department.
County officials stressed that no one was being prevented from voting and that no one’s ballot had been mishandled. They have said for weeks that ballot counting could take as many as 12 days.
Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is also the Democratic candidate for governor, sought to reassure voters that the technical errors were minor and would not stand in the way of ballot counting.
“Every single voter can be confident that their vote will be counted,” Hobbs said during an election afternoon stop at a polling place in south Phoenix.

This is right out of Orwell. We are assured that the presence of strong indicators of fraud should be taken as proof that there is no fraud.

Given the state of our public schools, that is probably truer than any of us would like to believe.
People, stop using Amazon, please.
That right there tells you it was rigged.
” we’re told it’s all quite normal”
Funny it didn’t happen during the primaries.
“Unfounded”
Seems to be the catch word from the deceitful media!
“Don’t believe you’re lying eyes”.
How quickly they call the claims of fraud in Arizona “unfounded”. All without even looking at the evidence that is clearly in front of everyone. To have such chaos statewide with machines failing in multiple precincts, could only have been by design. Everyone knew conservatives planned to vote on election day, so they deliberately made it as difficult as possible. I’m sure many people finally just gave up after standing in lines for hours.
If this had happened to democrats in say, Fulton County, Georgia, the calls of “voter suppression” would have been blazing on the headlines this morning. Plus, judges would have immediately ordered that the polls stay open another 24 hours so that “every vote would be counted”.
unfounded?
This whole thing defies credulity
Headline: Evidence surfaced for something there is no evidence for.
Any process that cannot be audited is on it’s face fraudulent. Most elections have been fraudulent for a long time. Name one real audit.
Spin, Spin, Spin...
At this early juncture how can the Washington Compost possibly know that the charges of fraud are unfounded?
Do they expect honest people to believe that In the middle of the night they conducted and completed an unbiased, in depth investigation of the charges and find that there is no evidence at all of fraud?
Poll after poll shows Americans deeply unhappy with the nation’s direction. DEEPLY unhappy.
Plus its the midterms, when the party in power usually gets it in the throat.
So, naturally yesterday the democrats over-perform.
IMO its CA writ large. Another couple of election cycles and the nation will have only one political party.
If Hobbs wins she will open the flood gates. It will be the end of our Republic.
Just because the state had 6 mos to prepare and still had machines break down is no reason to think it was corruption. Course there is no reason to think it is not.
The AP Style Guide needs to be revised to prohibit the words “unfounded” and “denier”.
Sounds familiar doesn't it.
Machines should not malfunction to that degree.
It’s incompetence. Sadly seems to be the norm is many places.
These are the big steals. Just imagine all the small ones that went on last night.
Someone mentioned that tidbit in the last couple years. The small ones go un noticed.
