Whole thing is quite a burn on Jeb.
Why do people keep saying this? It’s been disproven.
We need some operation to stop cartels moving drugs from China into the USA through Mexico. Even a border wall is porous if small parcels can get in and the price is right.
Legal immigrants hate illegals….
Worked on high rise construction in Denver…if the Mexicans new we hired an illegal….he was gone the next payday….
The word ‘that’ being missing from the headline confuses the intended meaning.
now we know why Trump beat on him... I cannot believe what I just read...
The GOPe is evil.
Just use frickin common sense.
Dems are pooping their drawers as they realize Hispanics are way more conservative than they once thought.
Hispanic Americans DO NOT like Open Borders!!
This headline scared me for a minute until I saw there is no comma after “wrong.”
This is so simple. Illegal aliens can’t vote (for now).
The voting Hispanics absolutely support a strong border. They came here legally. They are citizens. Why would they support anyone who wants to let every body and their Honduran uncle to be granted instant amnesty?
The GOP and the Rats made the mistake of thinking that Hispanics weren’t patriotic.
Most Mexicans hate illegal Mexicans.
I spent most of my childhood in MX. Hell of a place, hell of a people - but rules are rules.
The same evil people who vote dems have no problem with gangs or cartel violence - they justify it.
Absolutely correct, we need to close the borders and deport all illegals, especially those that Biden has let in. But also those that Trump let in.
You have open borders anyway.
That border is only a pain in the ass for law abiding citizens, sort of like gun control is.
Look, all the drugs we want to buy and “illegals” our businesses hire, knowingly, do not really get prosecuted for by a government which could EASILY crack down via IRS, schools, medical facilities and local police with standard traffic stops are coming in anyhow.
You have entire industries and areas dependent on this labor.
It’s a farce where you want to pretend to crack down on the border at least to some folks, but NO ONE (Republicans or Democrats) really wants that except a few folks that haven’t a clue and think you can seal up this border.
This is a 2,000 mile long border and where you have major commerce across daily. 35,000 trucks cross that border DAILY - many of them are US businesses. Are you ready for this? There are roughly 350 million legal border crossing annually. Trying to seal that border up to where you effectively catch the drugs and stop illegal crossings would be costly to the tax payer, very difficult to accomplish, it would prove an enormous burden on commerce/business.
All that border is good for is catching some poor woman with her three children than can’t move well. She’s the easy target our heros in their multicam uniforms can report as catches. As to the drugs bla bla bla. The Mexicans are awesome at tunneling, and today they operate drones that haul the crap across the border right over that fat border guards head, with all his over sized patches and nylon straps doing little good.
Some conservative politicians need to pander, I get it. But do not believe for a second that the border stops more than maybe 10% of the drugs and much of that is folks that have it on them for personal use. The actual drug traffickers are working over and under those clowns.
So what is that border?
It’s another TSA.
It’s a show. Only this is political theater.
It’s action for the sake of showing action because a certain group of folks see that as important. So you put up fixed secondary border checks about 25 miles from the border where everyone knows where they are and have been for years... But it creates the illusion, the appearance as if something is being done. And don’t get me wrong, some buffoon in government might actually try to pretend as if he’s doing and accomplishing something (while asking for next year’s budget), but not really.
If US businesses hiring illegals were targeted, you’d fix that problem fast. But that is exactly the opposite of what we’re doing. We actually avoid targeting the employers (costly for business which can influence policies and their enforcement) and try to pick up illegals at their residence etc. the big firms hiring 200 illegals in a single plant doesn’t like the fines and our government abliges. As long as it is lucrative you’ll have an illegal issue and for everyone you catch, he’ll be replaced tomorrow. The true fix to this issue is to make it not lucrative but that isn’t happening because you have some pretty influential folks making sure things stay exactly as they are. So yes, it’s just a theater.
Just like TSA is worthless, so is most of that border show.
***The measures which we could reasonably implement which would be effective we do not want to do: go after employers.***
You see this happening naturally when the economy dips. The number of illegals decreases.
The measures required at the border to make it effective at stopping the flow of illegals and/or drugs would prove difficult because you’d impact business/commerce, violate folks rights and/or inconvenience them to the point where it would cause problems, it would be costly to the tax payer. So what you have are things that are highly visible, but ineffective, example: https://apnews.com/article/texas-united-states-san-antonio-laredo-f80721c90620e40124adad62e684519b
