Ukraine’s president has suggested he’s open to peace talks with Russia, softening his earlier refusal to negotiate with Moscow while President Vladimir Putin is in power — while sticking to Kyiv’s demands.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy's appeal to the international community late Monday to “force Russia into real peace talks” reflected a change in rhetoric for a man who signed a decree in late September stating “the impossibility of holding talks” with Putin. But since his preconditions appear to be non-starters for Moscow, it’s hard to see how Zelenskyy’s latest comments would advance any talks.
Zelenskyy reiterated that his conditions for dialogue were the return of all of Ukraine's occupied lands, compensation for damage caused by the war and the prosecution of war crimes.

Seems a reasonable starting point to me.
Oh my, it keeps changing by the minute. Now it is that the loser gets to determine the terms.
Oh well, we can drop this “malarky” now.
He can demand in one hand, and cr@p in the other, and see which fills up quicker.
Darn, ya beat me, I was going to show that as Z’s Opening Statement of Values.
It normally takes years to agree on the shape of the table at which negotiations will be held.
it’s totally reasonable
which is why Russia will reject it, of course
Russia likes warmongering
To get that, Zelensky has to occupy Moscow (or get us to do it for him). That is not feasible.
Since win does the loser in a conflict dictate the terms of surrender?
“This guy!”.
Right now the war is a stalemate. Once the Ukraine gets the courage to destroy the dam at the Nova Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, thousands of Russian troops will be trapped on the right bank of the Dnieper.
That will break the stalemate in the Ukraine’s favor.
Actually, Russia hates admitting defeat. It’s better to save face by sacrificing the 300 Thousand than admit defeat
Cant wait for the money train to end. If whats going on in Ukraine is so damn important then Europe can pick up the welfare tab.
Don't like it? Get your sorry ass over to Ukraine and fight the Russians yourself and stop asking Ukrainians to die in war they can't win in defense if the "liberal world order".
Unless Ukraine begs for negotiations (on Russia’s terms), Ukraine will cease to exist by next summer.
Notice the lack of embedded journalists in the battle zones?
So far, it’s been a propaganda war, with lack of real info.
I keep looking at the map to verify all these great Ukrainian advances — not happening.
Ukraine must attack
Covert commandos dispatched to burn the Hermitage should get Putin’s attention
Both leaders are in a political position where they can’t back down from their demands and stay in power. Zelinsky demands Russia quit all of Ukraine including their naval bases. Putin can’t take less than all the territory he gained plus keeping his naval bases. I think also that Putin has demanded that Ukraine perform all sorts of demeaning exercises like putting in writing that they are now and forever Russian.
I read a historian on Russian wars. He claimed that Russia never quit a war before it has taken a half a million casualties. One side or the other must be totally exhausted before they can even think about negotiating off their present demands. At the moment, at least, it appears to be Russia that is under the most pressure to settle. But if the economies of Europe and the US sink into a nineteen thirties style depression then the pressure will be on Ukraine to end the hostilities.
One thing is sure, if the war ends “too soon” meaning before one side is beaten, then it will resume again later.
Drivel.
Mother Russia will be fortunate to be able to support the war prosecution come February or March. She lacks the logistical ability to move the needed supplies she doesn’t have
Russia should make a counterproposal so everyone can see the parties’ respective positions.
“ He’ll make Putin do the National Ukrainian Dance”
First he will spell his name right. Volodymir Putyn.
