Hearing Christ, Not Chaos
My sheep listen to my voice. John 10:27
After watching TV news for hours each day, the elderly man grew agitated and anxious—worried the world was falling apart and taking him with it. “Please turn it off,” his grown daughter begged him. “Just stop listening.” But the man continued to spend an excessive amount of time on social media and other news sources.
What we listen to matters deeply. We see this in Jesus’ encounter with Pontius Pilate. Responding to criminal charges brought against Jesus by religious leaders, Pilate summoned Him and asked, “Are you the king of the Jews?” (John 18:33). Jesus replied with a stunning question: “Is that your own idea . . . or did others talk to you about me?” (v. 34).
The same question tests us. In a world of panic, are we listening to chaos or to Christ? Indeed, “my sheep listen to my voice,” He said. “I know them, and they follow me” (10:27). Jesus “used this figure of speech” (v. 6) to explain Himself to doubting religious leaders. As with a good shepherd, He said that “his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice” (vv. 4–5).
As our Good Shepherd, Jesus bids us to hear Him above all. May we listen well and find His peace. — Patricia Raybon
What do you hear on the news or social media that makes you feel anxious? How can you give more time to hearing the voice of God?
Loving God, in a noisy world, when You speak to my heart, mind, and spirit in and through the Scriptures, may I hear You over all.

Howdy, Kathy.
Hump Day is here at last! Bet you're ready for some sleep tonight.
Luvly weather you're having up there. I noticed Lake Hood was freezing over again yesterday and the snow shows it quite well. Got this scap a few minutes ago.
There are a few small areas still open and this morning one of the cam ops zoomed in on a couple of ducks themselves.
Too bad you have to get out in that mess tomorrow. From what I've read about your temps, that is't melting any time soon. :-(

Good evening, radu...it’s snowing and LOTS of ducks are back. Lots of ones who must be old timers...straight to the deck when I open the door.
Are you getting some rain yet?
Got a last minute call from the boss...trying to get that figured out now.

LOL! When I saw it snowing today, I figured your long-time dinner “guests” would start showing back up.
No rain for us but MAYBE we’ll get a drop or two Saturday. Most likely that system will fizzle out before it reaches us. Just gorgeous, comfortable weather in store for the next week.
Great. Just what you wanted - - a last-minute call from the boss to tie you up for a while this evening. :-(

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
We made it through hump day. Hope your week is going well.
And now it is snowing...several inches so far.

It was about as perfect as it can get here. Sunny and 75 with a kiss of a breeze. made running errands a pleasure. It’s going to be a bit warmer the next several days - almost uncomfortable. We’ll need the AC this weekend.
I feel for Kathy having to get out in that mess tomorrow. It’s still coming down and with the frigid temps, it’s not melting any time soon. Hitting the streets will be an “adventure”.

I wouldn’t blame her if she opted to work from home tomorrow if possible. Ugh. I sure wouldn’t want to be driving in that stuff. No telling how many inches of snow will be on the ground by work time tomorrow morning.
Sounds like we had practically the same weather. Tomorrow will be a bit warmer, and then cool down for a couple of days before going back up. Seems that the fall version of the roller coaster is alive and well. LOL

Good evening, Mooch...just don’t touch the cute doggie. LOL!
Still enjoying a nice fall?
It’s been snowing gently for several hours here. At least 3” so far on my deck. I’m glad to get a good ground cover as the temps on the weekend are supposed to get down to 1 degree. I don’t want any frozen pipes.
