Being Warm is a Good ThingTM.

Taking orders from a micro-fascist JA may not be in the best interests of The Nation.

So wear other stuff under. Or have a family member write their congressman. Get a dozen parents to do that and I bet that jackass gets overruled real fast.

Military life is full of examples when someone’s ego overrules logic. The short time I was in the Navy, I saw it in most every department. One department (supply) may even sabotage another department (engineering) to prove some sort of point.

I remember being in school for a final exercise, and the company commander passed word not wear rain gear or ponchos because he thought they were too noisy and "not tactical".

Temperature dropped from mid 50's to upper 30's in the space of a couple hours, with rain and win. That night, out of a company with 221 student Lieutenants, 26 were evacuated with hypothermia.

Utter dumbass.

I knew an officer in Vietnam War who did two tours enlisted before he was commissioned. He refused to allow his troops to take ponchos to the field. He believed that warm, dry soldiers were the first to die in a firefight. I read a letter he got after he returned. The troops thanked him for keeping them alive.

When I was in the Marines, you were not able to wear the wool sweater (wooly pully) until DST (Daylight Savings Time) was over. No matter what the weather conditions were. Once the Daylight Savings time commenced again in April, the sweaters went back to the closet.

Looking at the picture in the link, it doesn’t look like a jacket to me. It looks like a jacket liner.

It must clash with the lipstick and high heels color.

A cold soldier is a demoralized soldier.

More hamstringing and degradation of our armed forces.

Spit.

I was in the Army in Virginia 1966. One morning when it was cold a lot of us wore our field jackets. The First Sargent informed us we were out of uniform because we haven’t received orders from Washington allowing us to wear field jackets...The next morning everyone was out of uniform wearing field jackets.

When I played high school football it rained for a full week. This was in Minnesota so it was a cold rain in October. The coach said it would toughen us up to practice in the rain. We practiced all week in the cold rain.

Half the team came down with lung infections and couldn’t play. We ended up losing the game. The next week the coach admitted it was stupid and we practiced in the gym the next time it rained.

Had a CSM whose only job seemed to be hanging out at the mess hall harassing troops in Iraq tell me I couldn't wear fleece as an outer garment.

2 Star we were detailed to wrote my crew and I an approval to wear memo telling the CSM to piss off.

Never forget the day I put it in his hand. He read it and stormed off. Don't recall ever seeing him at the mess hall again.

Fond Army memories.
