“One clinical study showed that a moderate dose of pure THC causes psychotic symptoms in about 40% of people who lack a family history of psychosis. If you’re a casual user and your dosage is mild, that likely just means a touch of paranoia,” said neuroscientist Christine Miller, an expert on psychotic disorders.
Thirty-five percent of people who have experienced such symptoms, however, will go on to experience a full psychotic break, according to another study, if they continue their high risk environmental exposure by continuing to use cannabis.
According to multiple studies, for those who have ever suffered a full cannabis-induced psychotic break, the chance that, if you still keep using, you’ll eventually develop permanent schizophrenia is almost 50 percent. That’s a higher conversion rate than amphetamines, opioids or LSD.
But what really makes THC more dangerous than those other drugs, experts say, is that so few people consider it dangerous at all. “We know fentanyl is bad. We know meth is bad,” said Dr. Libby Stuyt, a recently retired addiction psychiatrist in Colorado. “We don’t know that marijuana is bad.”

Like most soldiers and warriors, he did not discuss his experiences much. He did say once, when we were very young and were looking in the drawer of medals, he said ‘just means I was lucky.’ To him, the real heroes were those that did not return.

I’m 65 and if cannabis caused psychosis, I would be in a padded room in a mental hospital. Been using weed since the 70’s. It helps with my arthritis, appetite, and sleep.The worst thing that has ever happened is that I have gotten hungry and there were no snacks nearby.
Pot and ADD drugs don’t mix.

23 years and no problems? You may just be lucky. Vaping causes lung problems, to what total extent, it is too early to tell. The THC can be derived and taken in pill form for the medical benefits. Smoking tobacco or marijuana causes lung damage and can cause cancer. Alcohol in “moderation” does not. Our digestive system converts carbohydrates to CO2 and alcohol.
Dabs are smoked by heating a hollow straw....a “nail”....into a waxy concentrate. Smoke results, and is sucked ip through the straw. More elaborate means involve a water-cooled “dab rig”...a variation on a bong. Lots of youTube vids to watch. That’s another thing...no internet to spread the word in the ‘70s.
I know someone who is on opioids for chronic pain, and medical marijuana (recommended by his pain management doctor) for anxiety, since the government, in all their wisdom, has ordained that patients cannot have anxiety meds and opioids prescribed together.

Had an employee back in the 90’s who quit the job because he was not willing to give up his weekend dope.
He had a wife and 3 kids, it was a good job with great benefits, medical, dental, eyeglasses, maternity, etc.
The kind of bennies most people would kill for and a great retirement package.
As a company we had random drug testing and he tested dirty on a Monday morning, he explained to me he only smoked on weekends. I told him it didn’t matter, he was required to operate equipment and handle dangerous chemicals during the course of his employment.
The company offered a fully paid drug treatment program to any employee who choose to enter it.
Upon successful completion they would be re-instated to their position in the company with full pay and any back pay coming, the only caveat was you had to stay clean.
He chose to quit instead instead of giving up his pot smoking.
I have always wondered what he told his wife and kids when he got home that day!
Many have gone schizzo, for life.
There are many people who have a psychotic break for life with first use.
This is especially true with synthetic THC like JWH-18.
It also depends upon the types of alcohol.
Alcohol fermented from rice tends to make people angry.

NAH; that’s all OLD SCHOOL, just depends on how long you been around and who you hung with.

My wife, and her sons(2) and Daughter in law, smoke regularly. I don’t participate, and haven’t smoked since my first baby was born. It never really did anything to me other than make me paranoid, or give me heart palpitations.
With that said, after 40+ years I read that concentrated distillate was a treatment for Cancer.
The first time I took 1/2 a grain of rice sized goo in a capsule, it made me a believer in the psychotic capabilities of MJ. At 3pm I took a nap after taking the pill, woke up around 430 as we were going to a concert at a casino. I couldn’t drive as I was very affected. Within 15 minutes, it felt like we were driving through water. Nothing was solid, but the world was fluid. After noticing that I began telling wife to turn it around. I noticed that my words I spoke were being typed out in front of my eyes. I couldn’t hear what I said, but I could read them. I was panicked, and it took forever to get home. I could barely walk up the 5 steps, it was like being extremely liquored up. I flopped on the floor, asked for blankets and pillows as my world whirled. I had dry heaves, and she sat with me for hours as I shivered and trembled. I finally went to sleep, and woke up still slightly high.
I still do CBD drops for pain and sleep, they work better than melatonin with no bad effects. They are about .007%THC, and 8% CBD per dropper. I see the potential in this, and even creme for arthritis.
The point being that the smokers say I am an outlier, and very sensitive. To me, the stuff is madness. I buy this type of studies results, hook line and sinker. What a waste of money, give me a good cold beer a steak on the grill and the laughter of grandchildren. That gets me high, and the adult children make me psychotic sometimes...lol
