The dictionary definition of elder abuse includes the provision that the abuse occurs “within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust.”

This was the definition that Greg Kelly referenced on his show last night. The SFPD effed up by including this charge as it certainly implies David and Paulie knew each other.
I think the CA statutes related to “elder abuse” do NOT require the perpetrator to have a relationship with the victim. However, the fact that the crimes apply in cases where the victim is over the age of 65 would seem to suggest that the perpetrator must know the victim. Otherwise, the prosecutor is left with the burden of proving that the perpetrator knew the victim’s age beforehand.
It took a couple of weeks for the facts in the PP DUI incident to come out. The accident turned out to be more serious than was first reported. All the cops know is they were called to the home and saw the assailant hit Pelosi in the head with a hammer.
See Post #54. The charges may be correct under CA law, but they still seem to suggest that the perpetrator must know the victim in order for the charges to hold up in court.

Something to be considered, does Paul Pelosi have dementia? So instead of a legitimate nurse, Nancy hired a sketchy “friend” to keep it under the radar, entertained and under control when she was out of town. Pelosi may have even been the attacker, which is common with caretakers and those with dementia.
