With Republicans poised to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives, and possibly the U.S. Senate, could Republicans winning control of the Senate usher in Florida Senator Rick Scott as the new Senate Majority Leader?
Former Senate Majority Leader and current Minority Leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell, is considered persona non grata among most voting Americans, and many Conservative Senators in Washington for his open opposition of former President Donald Trump.
President Trump has been at odds with Sen. McConnell since the 2020 Presidential Election, and after McConnell all but blamed Trump for inciting the January 6 Capitol Riot, the gloves came off.
McConnell is on record of saying that Trump was “practically and morally responsible” for the Capitol riot.
“The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president,” said McConnell.
Just because McConnell is the current Minority Leader in the Senate, it does not guarantee he walks in as Majority Leader.
Remember, while he was Majority Leader during the Trump administration, Republicans accused McConnell of not doing enough to support the America First agenda Trump championed as president.
But even though McConnell has recently claimed that he as the votes to become Majority Leader again, there is a quiet groundswell of support for Scott to lead Senate Republicans.
Scott is a staunch ally of Trump, and the former president has previously called for McConnell to be challenged and ultimately replaced.
For those of you living under a rock back in 2019, then-Senate Minority Leader McConnell worked feverishly to defeat a young, conservative political newcomer named Marco Rubio in favor of then-Republican Governor Charlie Crist.

Marginally better than the turtle.
Marginally.
But definitely better, hopefully he’ll know where his bread is buttered.
It helps to read before posting. Try it.
One thing at a time. Let’s first concentrate on winning the Majority on November 8th. After that, the Republican Senators will have two months to decide their leadership.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
Why not Ted Cruz?
Ask him.
Turtle would retire if this happened I think.
(the Democrats) Bitch McConnell, needs to be placed in
mothballs. His reign of ‘Never Trump’ is over.
He and Ryan passed up the opportunity of a lifetime, when
they thumbed their noses at Trump, and couldn’t think of
more than one big bill to submit to him in two years.
Portions of that Tax cut bill expire in 2025.
He supports Lisa Murkowski.... I call for him to resign and let DeSantis to appoint someone real.
What do we really know about Rick Scott that would recommend him as majority leader? I ask this having a generally positive view of Scott.
I’m with you - one step at a time. No counting chickens until they’re hatched...
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Precisely: the opportunity of lifetime … squandered.
The Turtle shepherded President Trump’s three conservative judicial nominees through the senate.
But he also curiously backstabbed President Trump several times.
He is neck deep in Chicom payola.
I want him gone.
Mitch does not have a magic wand with regard to confirming judicial nominations. Others can step in and get it done. Time for Mitch to go, he is no ally of MAGA.
“:^)
Thanks.
Scott is Definitely better! I think Thune will push hard if we are able to topple McConnel. Thune is just as bad as McConnel. We’d be lucky to get Scott.
Pure speculation.
