The European Union’s member states and parliament are set to reach a deal that would effectively ban the sale of new combustion-engine cars from 2035.
It is a key milestone for the bloc to meet its mid-century climate neutrality target.
Discussions between the two sides, as well as the Commission, the EU’s executive branch, could conclude with an agreement as soon as Thursday, according to Jan Huitema, the main lawmaker in negotiations.
A deal would mean that all new autos will have to be zero-emission by 2035, with a 55 per cent reduction in emissions by the end of this decade.
“It’s the start of a big transition of the European Union,” Huitema said in an interview. “If we have an agreement tonight, that shows it is doable.”

WHAT is "doable"? Yes, the Madness of Crowds is definitely "doable."
It most assuredly does not show that their green wet dream is "doable."

They don’t seem to realize that the superior technology will win, no matter what. This can’t be forced, or it will become a disaster. Every EV made today will be obsolete junk in ten years. I doubt EVs will ever be suitable for tractor trailers or bulldozers. They fail miserably even in pickups. I don’t have a problem with them in their place, just don’t make them mandatory.
I’ve been on a big Fifth Dimension kick lately, definitely the best version....

Agree, might as well just outlaw cars and be done with it
Any report of Putin or She joining them?
Outlaw PEOPLE. It is THEY who are the 'problem' - right?

There is still time to find a classic ICE vehicle in excellent to restorable condition.
Now may be the golden moment to do so while the parts suppliers remain in business.
Gasoline is NOT going away and may even drop in price for a while.
Until the EV Scam becomes too apparent to be ignored any longer!
At that point either Abiotic Oil* fueled vehicles make a come-back or we have a lot of revolutions as folk refuse the “Great Reset” with “Extreme Prejudice”.
*”Fossil Fuel” is so quaint, really obsolete, as it turns out that Abiotic Oil is a renewable resource.
