The Department of Justice is recommending that former Trump advisor and War Room host Steve Bannon be sentenced to six months in prison and a $200,000 fine for defying the January 6 Committee.
Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress in July for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the committee.
(snip)
Anti-Trump neocon Liz Cheney and Democrat Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, chairs of the committee, had celebrated Bannon’s conviction in a joint statement after he was found guilty.

If that is the case, then the court is not the correct venue and cannot hear the appeal.
This would nullify the guilty finding in the lower court.
Can’t have that!
Orange man bad.

Eric “the Red” Holder was never prosecuted for his crimes, why should Bannon be prosecuted for the same crime?
Rhetorical question of course.

“Almost any judge will agree Bannon should have followed the law and appeared to testify when served with a lawful subpoena.”
Bannon’s contention is that it was not a lawful subpoena. Plenty of legal experts also say that.

I get what you’re saying but why would that matter. Congress can refer a matter to the DOJ which means a member of congress can refer.

The Department of Justice is getting a lot of backing from democrats and Rinos in congress and senate they can’t afford to lose their kickback insider trading and off shore deals.
It’s a fight of money and power over justice.
