~ Hall of Heroes ~ William B. Baugh Info from here. | | Private First Class William Bernard Baugh (July 7, 1930 – November 29, 1950) was a United States marine who, at age 20, received the Medal of Honor in Korea for sacrificing his life to save his Marine comrades. The nation’s highest decoration for valor was presented to the young Marine for extraordinary heroism on November 29, 1950, between Koto-ri and Hagaru-ri, when he protected the members of his squadron from a grenade by smothering it with his body. Private First Class Baugh was the 15th Marine to receive the Medal of Honor for heroism during the Korean War. Born July 7, 1930, in McKinney, Kentucky, William Bernard Baugh was employed by Harrison Shoe Corporation before his enlistment in the Marine Corps on January 23, 1948, at the age of 17. He attended public schools in Butler County, Ohio. Following recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina, PFC Baugh was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and after being transferred to the 1st Marine Division in Korea, took part in the Inchon landing, the capture of Seoul, and the Wonsan, Hungnam, and Chosin Reservoir campaigns. His death occurred in the Chosin area. In addition to the Medal of Honor, PFC Baugh posthumously received the Purple Heart Medal. He previously held the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Europe Clasp, Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. | The President of the United States in the name of The Congress takes pride in presenting the MEDAL OF HONOR posthumously to PRIVATE FIRST CLASS WILLIAM B. BAUGH UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS for service as set forth in the following CITATION:
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a member of an Anti-Tank Assault Squad attached to Company G, Third Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), during a nighttime enemy attack against a motorized column en route from Koto-Ri to Hagaru-ri, Korea, on November 29, 1950. Acting instantly when a hostile grenade landed in his truck as he and his squad prepared to alight and assist in the repulse of an enemy force delivering intense automatic-weapons and grenade fire from deeply entrenched and well-concealed roadside positions, Private First Class Baugh quickly shouted a warning to the other men in the vehicle and, unmindful of his own personal safety, hurled himself upon the deadly missile, thereby saving his comrades from serious injury or possible death. Sustaining severe wounds from which he died a short time afterward, Private First Class Baugh, by his superb courage and valiant spirit of self-sacrifice, upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.

God Spoke
God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Genesis 1:3
In 1876, inventor Alexander Graham Bell spoke the very first words on a telephone. He called his assistant, Thomas Watson, saying, “Watson, come here. I want to see you.” Crackly and indistinct, but intelligible, Watson heard what Bell had said. The first words spoken by Bell over a phone line proved that a new day for human communication had dawned.
Establishing the dawn of the first day into the “formless and empty” earth (Genesis 1:2), God spoke His first words recorded in Scripture: “Let there be light” (v. 3). These words were filled with creative power. He spoke, and what He declared came into existence (Psalm 33:6, 9). God said, “let there be light” and so it was. His words produced immediate victory as darkness and chaos gave way to the brilliance of light and order. Light was God’s answer to the dominance of darkness. And when He had created the light, He saw that it “was good” (Genesis 1:4).
God’s first words continue to be powerful in the lives of believers in Jesus. With the dawning of each new day, it’s as if God is restating His spoken words in our lives. When darkness—literally and metaphorically—gives way to the brilliance of His light, may we praise Him and acknowledge that He’s called out to us and truly sees us. — Marvin Williams
When dawn breaks through the darkness, how will you celebrate God’s love and faithfulness? How has God’s light opened your eyes to see Him?
Creator of Light, I praise You for dispelling the darkness of this world—opening my eyes to You and Your presence in my life.

It was an absolutely MAGNIFICENT day. After walking Tippy, I hopped onto Blue and rode southwest to a big antiques mall with lots of vendors. I got a few items that fit nicely in my saddlebag, along with a hoodie that I had worn under my leather jacket. I had to peel it off because it was so HOT today...in the 70’s.
Then I went to a nice little Thai restaurant and had some spicy soup, hot sake, and Pad Thai.
Dropped in on Sis and watched some Eric Clapton Videos.
Went home, walked the dog, visited my other sister who was babysitting for her 4-month old granddaughter. Tippy was very curious about this little human, and baby was fascinated with Tippy.
Walked home, showered, washed my hair, gave myself a facial, and FReeped.
Life begins at 70, so I’ll start REALLY living tomorrow! LOL!

Howdy, Kathy.
Yes, I saw that it rained overnight at the airport and was very foggy along the mountains this morning. I just couldn't tell if it was only in the mountains or was down in town as well. The peaks came into view eventually but the thick fog bank hugged alongside them for quite a while.
No fog at the airport but the ceiling was very low for a long time. Fortunately it lifted by the time one of the Dreamlifters took off and the cam op was able to follow it quite a ways as it headed towards Japan. That cam has a killer zoom.
Did sunshine hit your neighborhood when the clouds finally broke up a little bit?
No rain here though there was a little scattered around with the cold front moving through. It was overcast but comfortable today in the low 70s. We'll have 70s again next weekend but have a few days of December to get through first. brrrrrr

Oh boy...you got to see one of your BIG planes.
Sun for maybe an hour and back to rain and low ceiling. Blue sky is trying to make an appearance all around.
