Ukraine's State Emergency Services said at least 11 people have been killed and more than 60 wounded in Russian missile strikes on several Ukrainian cities Monday.
The strikes are the largest coordinated assault on Ukrainian cities since the early days of the war. The Russian Defense Ministry said the strikes targeted Ukraine's military command and communication facilities and energy infrastructure.
At least six people were killed in Kyiv when missiles struck several locations in the city center during morning rush hour. Officials in the central city of Dnipro said four people were killed.
The leader of Ukraine's armed forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, said around 75 Russian missiles were launched, of which more than 40 were shot down by Ukrainian forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Russian forces had also used Iran-built armed attack drones.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that 11 major infrastructure targets were hit in eight regions, causing widespread disruption to electricity, water and communications.
Emergency services wrote on Telegram that the regions of Lviv, Poltava, Sumy and Ternopil currently have no electricity following the strikes, with other regions experiencing partial disruptions.

It’s pretty obvious the wrong degree of retaliation by NATO starts WWIII. Belarus just threw their hat into the ring as well.
ST. PETERSBURG. October 10. /TASS/. Russia will respond toughly, if the Kiev regime continues attempts to carry out terror attacks on Russian territory, President of Russia Vladimir Putin said on Monday.
“If attempts continue to carry out terror attacks on our territory, Russia’s responses will be tough and by their scope correspond to the level of threats created for the Russian Federation,” the head of state said at a meeting with members of Russia’s Security Council.
“No one must have any doubts about that,” Putin stressed.
By its acts, the Kiev regime has put itself on a par with international terrorist organizations and, therefore, these crimes simply cannot be left unanswered, the Russian leader said.
As Putin said, “this morning, at the suggestion of the Defense Ministry and under a plan of the Russian General Staff, a massive strike by Russia’s long-range air-, sea- and ground-based precision weapons was delivered against Ukrainian energy, military command and communications facilities.”
The president instructed the defense minister “to report on the results.”
Russian Security Council meeting
The Russian Security Council meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Speakers of both houses of parliament Valentina Matviyenko and Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Presidential Administration Head Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin and Special Russian Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergey Ivanov.
After the president’s speech, the meeting continued its work behind closed doors.
The Kerch Bridge was bombed by a Ukrainian strike team Saturday morning now Russia has responded.
Brandon needs an October Drama so you will forget about food and gas prices before Election Day.
His Armageddon jibe last week was probably based on plans to attack the bridge and get Russia to retaliate and use Russia’s retaliation to produce more pre-US election drama over Ukraine.
this won’t last
Russia is running out of missiles
this is merely a desperate lashing-out by a frustrated old man in the Kremlin whose supposed “easy conquest” of Ukraine just won’t end
Sure - makes sense if you're a Russian.
There goes Putin bombing civilians again.
Putin’s just like an Angry Muslim suitor whose beloved wants nothing to do with him. So he throws acid in her face.
Someone blew up his expensive bridge. So Putin claims a bunch of civilian lives because his supply line got cut.
No surprise here and again, this is what the west wants - war.
“Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that 11 major infrastructure targets were hit in eight regions, causing widespread disruption to electricity, water and communications.”
Putin is flanked by hard liners who want to see toughness and victory.
Zelensky is flanked by the globohomos who want to provoke war.
This should’ve been negotiated in January and in every month since that time.
The citizens are the only ones with no one representing their interests
War Is Hell as General Sherman put it.
If Ukraine wants to attack a Russian bridge like it did on Saturday be my guest.
But don’t play the victim card Ukraine when Russia chooses to strike back.
If you stand the heat don’t get in the kitchen.
There must a negotiated settlement but Biden has an election to win on November 8th so this conflict must be ratcheted up with G-d knows what kind of consequences.
That Armageddon thing was no idle comment, Biden knew Ukraine was on the attack to provoke this Russian response and when they hit the bridge to Crimea on Saturday morning the die was cast.
Biden needs to show some courage and set limits to the Russians. We should be clear to Putin:
If your shoot missiles at civilian targets we will give Ukraine Iron Dome to stop them, and give Ukraine 500 tomahawks and the right to target anywhere in Russia.
The only message bullies understand is power, but Biden is too much of a wimp to use it.
BS - nobody “provoked” Russia
Russia freely chose to invade, on a conquest of blood & plunder, because Putin is an obsessed warmonger
Putin said so himself - Ukraine didn’t deserve to exist, they were one people, etc. It was all about land & annexation from the beginning
stop this “provoked” lie
Head of Chechnya Kadyrov urged Ukrainian President Zelensky to flee to the West

Why? This isn’t our fight. It’s Europe’s problem. Not out circus not our clowns.
It would be totally unfair if Ukraine strikes back at Russian infrastructure. With the Russians, war is a one way street.
aMorePerfectUnion commented as well, "Putin is flanked by hard liners who want to see toughness and victory. Zelensky is flanked by the globohomos who want to provoke war."
I think this all very apt. As the two schoolyard bullies rage, there is NO solution in taking sides with the smaller over the larger per se. The war between them will come one of three ways, if NATO does not screw Europe to WWIII.
As to the larger-smaller narrative, earlier the Ukraine against Donetsk civil war is an inversion of the storytelling, big versus little. Interesting how that is forgotten in the "fog of war." Options seem as follows: 1) Russia wins, and Ukraine surrenders. 2) Ukraine wins somehow, and Russia retreats. 3) A negotiation in earnest and in which both sides state some degree of satisfaction is concluded. I suspect the third is now well off the table, thanks to the US State Department and the Obama-Biden lust for their own "leadership."
Suicide bombing?
“Why? This isn’t our fight. It’s Europe’s problem. Not out circus not our clowns.”
The clear lesson from history is that if you skip the easy fights you will be stuck with hard ones later on.
We gave in to Hitler and then had to fight a global war.
We learned that lesson and the policy of containment won us the Cold War: oppose all attempts at communist expansion anywhere in the world.
Sure it does, I mean, it’s never been a problem with the US/NATO yeah?
“NATO launched more than 10,000 air raids on Libya in 2011 with over 500,000 Civilian Casualities. When they were questioned about civilian Casualities they insisted that it was collateral damages and that it happens in wars.”

Over a million in Iraq.
