Unless you look back further than February, you will continue to fall into the logical fallacy trap of reductionism - and be unable to get to resolution.
Logical Fallacy of Reductionism / OversimplificationThe logical fallacy of reductionism / oversimplification occurs when a complex concept is reduced to a subset of its components as if it represented the whole. This often results in an oversimplified understanding of causes and possible solutions. It can also lead to questions being answered in ways that are too simple. That is, when a complex question is asked that requires several answers, a single simplified answer may be provided, but that answer isn't helpful. As with many fallacies, reductionism is often used as a tool for thinking, since the human mind is so limited. We usually can’t think about everything at once. A model, or abstraction, abstracts certain elements so that we can think about those elements and try to do analysis. However, the problem is that we sometimes forget that the model is not reality itself, and then we add it as confirmation bias to prove to ourselves that some parts of our paradigm/fake-inner-reality are real, though they are not. Water going through a garden hose is like electricity going through a wire--until you grab the end of the wire.
“I guess I missed it when we bombed Russia into submission.”
That’s a good point. Russia is like Germany after WWI or Napoleon in 1814. Defeated, but not occupied and thus the people have a delusion that they didn’t really lose.
The unfortunate lesson of history is that Russia may not be brought to heel until US marines are on the streets of Moscow.
“The clear lesson from history is that if you skip the easy fights you will be stuck with hard ones later on.”
It was ever thus.
I've stated on FR several times from the beginning that I only care about the citizens of Ukraine and Russia that have no choice. Kindly pay attention bro. 🤗
They can’t right. A bunch of mooslims, pakis, dots and nogs ain’t gonna die for Great Britain.
Ukraine, the most corrupt country in Europe is not an ally of the USA. Americans are sick of all these neocon wars. Everyone that wants to see Ukraine win is free to get on a plane and go over there and help them. This is not our fight.
Nothing shrieks “liberation” more than lobbing missiles at the “liberated.”
5. Nuke Wash. DC , the root of Ukrainian resistance
What I see in the JFK dealings in October 1962 with the “Cuban Missile Crisis” is a strategically timed crisis to help with the November mid-terms in 1962.
Under the drama a negotiated deal JFK got to look tough as the Republicans had hammered him over the Bay of Pigs for being weak on Cuba and Communism.
The Democrats gained four Senate seats in November 1962 and lost only five House seats.
The “crisis” solidified support around JFK and the Democrats.
Another historical note. Just two weeks before the “Cuban Missile Crisis” JFK was forced to send the US Army into northern Mississippi to force integration of the University of Mississippi.
That hurt him with the Southern segregationist Democrats and JFK need to deflect from that and unify his own political base.
The “Cuban Missile Crisis” gave him the opportunity to do just that with fissures in the Democrat Party in 1962 as well as stifling Republican critics.
I think mass murdering Russian speakers in the Ukraine might be considered a provocation. Just saying.
You are correct.
The hegemonic model in your #1 is in state of free fall and collapse. We no longer have the capability to replicate what we did with Germany and Japan. This exact situation proves the point and is what this war is about.
Regarding #3, the destruction will be mutual.
I'm surprised the infrastructure wasn;t done on day one - but then Putin did say it was a concentrated particiliar mission at that time. .....So now Zelensky continues to “Poke” at Putin (Crimea Bridge explosion) and now he sees Putin is responding certainly as most would have guessed he would...... Zelensky got what he wanted - an escalation in the war.
Obviously civilians are NOT Putin's targets, unfortunately as in our Iraq bombings, some will indeed loose their life. his happens in all conflicts.
I think Putin listens to all his advisors, both gov. and military....on how he can achieve his goals. And as we've seen if a Military leader goes against Putin he will take him down or out if he cannot explain his actions.
I recall a General saying that every military leader makes mistakes on the battlefield. That innocents will die as well as their own military people. It cannot be completely avoided regardless the efforts to do so.
What I hate most is Zelensky’s constantly misleading his people - now he's using green screens behind his speeches because those buildings were bombed. Putting up street signs of the crimea bridge being blown like N.Korea does to keep their people in the dark. His photo ops and all the nonsense that everything is alright they are winning.
But it's not alright, not even close....nobody wins in this conflict.
“I believe those Jupiter missiles in Turkey were going to be phased out anyway. I could be wrong.”
But you are right.
“I think the whole thing was more of a draw than a Kennedy ‘victory’...”
I agree.
“I only hope we avoid it again. We need some adults in the room as in 1962. Biden and company are hardly capable, and Putin is a wild card. Very dangerous times...”
I don’t see anyone going nuclear, unless it is Putin; and there is no upside to Russia in going that route.
At least you admit we are an expansionist empire. That’s not what our founders wanted, nor most citizens.
Which is precisely why the foreigner wants the US to fight.
Yep.
“Putinist Russia is a weak and corrupt country so it must always resort to violence.”
Yup. Just within the last 30 years, Russia has invaded Chechnya (twice), Georgia, and Ukraine (twice).
Agree.
I will add that if the globohomos of the WEF/Soros group fail, I will take that as a win for the world. It will come at great cost - including much wider war that will engulf many nations and lives.
Again, the evil of men is why we need a Savior.
Exactly. It would do the limeys well to sit down and STFU. I actually kinda like the Brits for their contribution to western civilization but I don’t want to hear jack from those shit teeth regarding foreign entanglements.
