Democrats’ gas price problem
Washington Post via MSN ^ | Oct 6, 2022 | Aaron Blake

Democrats’ electoral fortunes have improved significantly in recent months. And while it appears the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is the biggest reason, the coinciding drop in gas prices surely didn’t hurt.

But just as the party appeared primed to take advantage of that in the midterm elections, which are just a month away, the problem rears its ugly head again. And Democrats are clearly quite concerned.

Just how concerned should they be?

Gas prices had already been rising for the past two weeks, after 98 days of consecutive declines over the summer, to a national average of about $3.87 per gallon. And on Wednesday came the extremely unwelcome news from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its partners (including Russia) that they will trim oil production by 2 million barrels per day. The move is expected to increase prices by reducing supply......

And even if the impact of OPEC Plus’s decision isn’t that large, it comes at a time when prices had already been rising — and during a season when gas prices had been expected to rise, as The Washington Post’s Evan Halper reported as far back as July.

Democrats would rather keep the election focused on other things, but all of these proposals aside, that’s something that’s largely outside their control right now.

As usual the compost fails to:

1. Remark on the day 1 actions Biden took (e.g., stop the pipeline) that impacted today's supply.

2. Remind people Trump predicted this would happen.

3. How gas prices were about 1/2 this when Biden took office.

I saw the gas station down the street is back up to $5.90 after precipitously dropping to $4.50 over the end of the summer. I put one of my “I did that” stickers up each time I fill up, just as I put one at the supermarket upon the permanently empty shelves of staple foods

Gas in Morgan Hill, California was $2.27 on January 12 last year.

Now it is over $6.00

Still, with restaurants full, airlines full, grocery carts full...I’m having a hard time saying we in a recession.

There’s little question that higher gas prices are bad for the president and his party, even as politicians exert little influence over them.

When Dem politicians declare war on the energy industry, shut down domestic pipelines, reduce areas for drilling etc. I'd say politicians, in this case DEMS, are entirely to blame for this energy crisis.

“Democrats’ electoral fortunes have improved significantly in recent months.” Really? How? Based on what? Again, this is propaganda pretending to be objective reporting. In a re-write, I could see this sentence: “Democrats’ electoral fortunes may have improved in recent months, based on our polls.” Even then, it should be qualified, “...based on our polls up until about three weeks ago.” Because if the WP is basing their observation on polls, the polls aren’t looking good for Democrats.

Don’t forget Talib’s question to the bank ceo’s if they have a policy against funding new oil and gas products. No one agreed that they should stop financing fossil fuels. She was not happy.
This is an intentional ‘transitions’./

All this material would make a great TV commercial, the GOP needs some marketing.

Im pretty sure the motive for high gas prices is to ‘nudge’ the people into EVs. Yes I understand EVs are net ecological negative.

It might go down until they can survive the election but it’s REALLY GOING to SKYROCKET as soon as the voting has ended (whenever the hell that’s going to be).

Winter is around the corner. In the past week on Long Island hearing oil from the company I use has raised the price for a 100 gallon delivery 3 times from $3.909 to $4.149 to $4.419 to $4.609 per gallon. No doubt $4.609 will seem like it was be a bargain in mid-winter.

Can't wait to send a message to every Democrat in the USA come November.

And unemployment at 3.5%. Fed heads say it will take a 5-6% unemployment rate to kill inflation. We have a long way to go to get out of this one, though there are the beginning signs that we are headed in the right direction.

Gas went up 20 cents yesterday.

Most items have increased in price.

Food, paper products, sundries, etc.

Shortages everywhere.

Bad omens.

I was at Costco a few days ago. In the veggie chiller, all the pallet racks were empty above the floor level, the berry display was half its normal size, and the dairy chiller had no eggs in it. Not even a space for eggs, like they never had them.

Biden crossed the Arabs by attempting to renew the Obama Iranian nuclear treaty

The Opec gambit is pure retribution. Arabs generally don’t react but this time they delt the Democrats a serious blow expertly timed for maximum hurt

So, how full is your checking account vs 2020? Savings account, Portfolio, et al.?

My wife’s IRA has gone from $102K in 2020 and is now at $68K and still dropping.

I’m on SS and at a fixed income at 73yo and she’s still working for the next ...???

And you’re “... having a hard time saying we(’re) in a recession.”???

We all see through it. Every race is a two point lead for Democrats except DeSantis. They are spreading their manure filled narratives after wrecking the country.

During the favorable GOP landslides of my life, 1980, 1994, 2010, and 2014, the Dems and Rino’s ran normie election campaigns with the exception of Reagan. Looking back, the Tea Party was pretty boring. Even the 1994 landslide was focused more on the “Contract with America,” and not on the populist anger of the hinterland and Perot voters.

Notice they tried to do it again this year and people yawned and blasted the GOP for their worthlessness and cowardice. If this election even resembles an honest one the communists will get murdered.
